Amazon Web Services (AWS) obsesses over customers; delivering results for customers is what we do. Our AWS Security Assurance team is looking for an independent and experienced professional with expertise and experience in leading the development of cybersecurity regulatory standards, translating complex cybersecurity requirements and expectations on the use of technology services into operational solutions, and executing effective senior-level engagements to assist our customers in moving their sensitive, regulated workloads to the cloud.

As a successful candidate, you have specialized experience navigating regulatory and standards environments within the U.S. Federal and Defense sectors. You have also developed long-term projects and defined processes and methods to ensure execution and productivity across multiple internal and external stakeholders, including customers, industry standards bodies, and regulatory agencies.

This position will have visibility at the most senior levels of defense agencies and AWS including frequent interaction with CISOs, CTOs, their staffs, and AWS senior leadership.

Key job responsibilities

• Serve as regulatory expert to AWS and its customers on regulations on cybersecurity, operational resilience, and related domains in the defense industry.

• Develop and execute long-term regulatory projects and initiatives, which may have broad scope and complexity, for AWS and our defense customers.

• Create, optimize, and support cross-functional groups and projects.

• Anticipate new or changes to laws and regulations for potential impact to AWS and our customers and develop appropriate mitigation and implementation approaches.

• Escalate and manage escalations as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related area of study (Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, IT Security Management).

• 7+ years of experience developing or responding to federal or defense standards, policies, or regulations.

• 7+ years of experience working directly with senior government officials, boards of directors, and executives on federal and defense regulatory, technology, or related policy issues.

• 7+ years of experience implementing and/or influencing national and sectoral laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in related area of study (Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, IT Security Management).

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to use data to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions.

• Ability to investigate and analyze technical and regulatory issues with applicability to AWS services.

• Have an understanding of cloud computing services and deployment architecture.

• Have a record of delivery of compliance process improvement projects with technology processes and/or major tech companies. Experience with IT process consulting is a plus.

• Domestic and global travel may be required less than 20%.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
