TEXAS RACING COMMISSION Information Security Officer in Austin, Texas

[General Description Performs information security and cybersecurity analysis work involving planning, implementing, and monitoring security measures for the protection of information systems and infrastructure. Develops security architecture and policies based on business needs, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements. Work also includes protecting cybersecurity assets, incident response, threat assessment, software security, and vulnerability assessment services. Conducts information security risk analysis and system audits. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Directs the agency risk management program through planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing information technology disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Develop plans to safeguard computer configuration and data files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs.
  • Oversees the ongoing development and implementation of statewide information and cybersecurity policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure information security capabilities cover current threats.
  • Develops and implements agency policies for encryption of data transmissions and the erection of firewalls to conceal information as it is being transmitted and to eliminate tainted digital transfers.
  • Performs technical risk assessments and reviews of account permissions, computer data access needs, security violations, programming changes, and new and existing applications and systems, including data center physical security and environment.
  • Performs forensic analysis of information systems and portable devices and forensic recovery of data using assessment tools.
  • Develops plans to safeguard computer configuration and data files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs.
  • Ability to adaptto changing technology as it may pertain to the development of future projects or to assist in current projects.
  • Capability to oversee and/or supervise the work of others.
