Our Opportunity:

The Business Process Management (BPM) Technology team leverages the Pega platform to deliver workflow solutions at Schwab. These platforms are mission critical, and integral to providing world-class service to our external and internal clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly visible team working on an exciting digital transformation initiative at Schwab.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking a qualified professional to become the senior architect for our enterprise Pega platform. This responsibility will require that the candidate wears multiple hats, with a focus on delivering exciting technical solutions that are secure, scalable, and reliable. You will be accountable for setting and governing the overall technical direction of our Pega platform. You will not only deliver the architectural direction, you will also be responsible for reviewing existing applications and advising the appropriate improvements that are needed. Your role is as both an architect and a consultant, which will require you to work closely with our technical and business partners, as well as mentoring our more junior developers. The candidate will collaborate with Pegasystems to ensure that we are aligned with future product developments and features. Your ability to communicate clearly, understand the big picture, and to influence others in our overall direction will establish your success in this role.

What you’ll do within the first three months:

  • Thoroughly analyze and document the existing MyQ platform, including both internal and external architecture

  • Document suggested changes in the existing MyQ platform that would improve scalability, reliability or security – this will require getting fully up to speed on on Schwab’s overall architectural direction

  • Assume ownership for our local goverance processes

  • Define a target macro level architecture for our departmental solutions

What you have:

  • 5 or more years’ of hand’s on experience in Pega Systems PRPC BPM Solution development - Certified Lead Systems Architect , with expert knowledge of workflow concepts

  • Experience as a technical leader in an organization. This includes coaching and mentoring new associates, overseeing the development work of other resources, working through complex problems, and working with our business partners to deliver an amazing experience for our clients.

  • Knowledge of knowledge of information security architectures including authentication and authorization, data encryption, network encryption and certificates, and web service security.

  • More than 5 years’ experience in J2EE application development using EJBs, Webservices, JSPs, JDBC, JMS, etc.

  • Familiarity with the architecture of Websphere MQ – Queue Manager, Queues, Channels, messages, message persistence, queue listeners etc.

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) including describing complex issues and documenting software architecture solutions for audiences with a wide range of technical expertise.

  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
