Our Opportunity:

Charles Schwab is searching for a highly effective Reporting and Data Analyst with experience designing, implementing, maintaining and analyzing reports for a software development organization. The position is responsible for providing analytical support to the Agile Transformation program. The Reporting and Data Analyst will generate reports and dashboards that provide insight into the effectiveness of software development methodologies, team composition and software quality to name a few.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for report writing, including data validation

  • Obtains specifications for department reporting needs

  • Supports department’s information needs by designing reports, coordinating data mining through other systems and/or working with vendor(s) for system modifications

  • Responsible for both conceiving and writing necessary reports

  • Reviews report specifications for completeness and accuracy

  • Produces necessary reports and provides first level support of reports including data validation

  • Develops reports, graphs, presentations and dashboards

  • Maintains an accurate inventory of requested reports and applicable modifications

  • Works with the report requestors to evaluate and clarify requests

  • Evaluates uniqueness of data, offers alternative solutions where applicable, including non-automated reporting

  • Responsible for monitoring the performance of reports and taking corrective action to optimize or improve the performance of the reports when necessary

Data Analysis

  • Imports data into database(s) and use tools to create integrated data models by translating functional requirements into reporting objects

  • Obtains and extracts data from existing internal and external data sources

  • Provides detailed analysis to identify trends, interprets patterns and relevant artifacts associated with the data

  • Analyzes and resolves issues with integration and management of data

  • Performs basic statistical analysis for reports

  • Extracts existing data to manipulate/calculate/format into presentable reports, charts, graphs and dashboards

  • Elicits, documents, and analyzes reporting needs and requirements

  • Analyzes data and reporting solutions to understand business impact, correlations/discrepancies, and to propose changes/alternate solutions

  • Performs ad hoc analytical requests and research projects

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 8+ years of data analysis and reporting experience

  • 2-5 years extracting data from a variety of data sources

  • 2-5 years of experience with reporting database design

  • Experience with software development lifecycles, specifically Agile (Scrum and Kanban)

  • Understanding of database normalization and indexing

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications

  • Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate technical ideas effectively

  • Superior analytical skills and be able to translate requests into desired solutions

  • Strong data, reporting and troubleshooting skills

  • Programming skills related to developing API calls for system data capture

Desired

  • Prior experience developing reports and analyzing data related to Agile software development methodologies

  • Experience with Atlassian tools like JIRA Agile and Bamboo

  • Experience with Tableau
