Senior Systems Administrator (71101)Location: Brooklyn, NYDescription:Are you a skilled troubleshooter with a knack for system administration and an eye for detail? Our Senior System Administrator position might be just what you're looking for. Join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency of our campus operations.Reporting directly to the Director of Core Operations, the Senior System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and applications. Under minimal day-to-day supervision, with a moderate degree of independent judgment, this role will oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems, as well as troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues. This role will also supervise the System Administrator position.Duties and Responsibilities:Oversee the daily operations of the Core Operations department systems and provide guidance to supervised staff membersManage and maintain the institution's Prattcard and SIS server infrastructure, storage systems, and other related equipmentDevelop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of system failure or data lossMaintain accurate documentation of all systems, policies, procedures, and user guidesPlan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and expansions to accommodate the institution's evolving needsProvide technical support to end-users and resolve all issues in a timely and efficient mannerCollaborate with other departments to assess their needs and propose solutions to improve efficiency and productivityConduct regular audits and implement measures to safeguard the institution's data and systemsStay current on industry trends and advancements in IT technology to recommend upgrades and improvements to the infrastructureQualifications:Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent field experience.Experience:Minimum of 5 years experience in system administration, preferably in an educational or similar institutionSkills:Proficiency in networking, server management, virtualization, and cloud computing technologiesStrong leadership skills and experience managing a team of IT professionalsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilities to provide stellar customer service and supportDetail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshootingOther:Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently and juggle several complex tasks simultaneously, as well as have excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skillsSalary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
