Data Governance and Security Architect

Location : This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

Preferred locations include: Louisville, KY; Atlanta, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Mendota Heights, MN; Richmond, VA; Grand Prairie, TX; and St Louis, MO.

The Data Governance and Security Architect oversees the processes, policies, and standards organizations use to manage their data. This role is critical for ensuring that data is managed effectively, is accurate and accessible, and supports business decision-making. In this role, you will ensure that data privacy and security policies are in place and that the organization is in compliance with data protection regulations. This includes implementing data security measures, conducting security audits, and responding to security incidents.

How you will make an impact:

  • Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of organizational data.

  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of a data catalog that documents data sources, data lineage, and metadata to enhance data accessibility and understanding.

  • Oversee data compliance activities, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to data privacy and protection, such as GDPR and CCPA.

  • Lead data governance security meetings and committees, fostering collaboration among business units, legal and compliance to align data governance initiatives with organizational objectives.

  • Monitor and report on the performance of data security and privacy initiatives.

  • Helps define required policies, controls, and capabilities to protect data within data platform.

  • Supports the security certification process for the data governance team

  • Liaison with stakeholders across the organization to deliver the results

  • Contributes to information management systems architecture vision and ensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged.

  • Takes responsibility for defining information management architectural components.

  • Defines information architecture standards and assists in creation of reference architecture.

  • Analyzes architecture efficiency data and makes recommendations for improvements and develops linkage from conceptual architecture to logical architecture.

  • Identifies technical and architectural areas of opportunity for improvement; to improve enterprise architectures and supporting technologies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 3 years architecture/design in relevant technology disciplines; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Experience with ETL and BI tools, integration standards and protocols (e.g., SOAP, UDDI), and XML schema strongly preferred.

  • Experience in health care industry strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud security and governance functions is highly preferred.

  • Prior experience implementing data privacy policies.

  • Hands-on experience with data management, policy development, and compliance adherence preferred.
