NOTE: - One (1) opening for position DUTIES This role is responsible for performing all cathodic protection measurements and data entry. This role assists System Integrity Technicians with ensuring the operational integrity and adequate cathodic protection on both transmission and distribution systems. This position is important because Duke Energy's knowledge of the status of the cathodic protection is based on the CP test readings obtained by the Associate and Technicians. This position requires a person who is meticulous about maintaining testing equipment calibrations, recording data accurately, assisting technicians in CP deficiency investigation and maintaining clear and accurate data records. Additionally, it is vital that this person be able to work independently and able to use geospatial technology to perform their work. The Associate communicates issues discovered during their work to the Technicians and supports them in resolving these issues. The System Integrity Technician Associate performs duties such as Maintain historical records of all cathodic protection readings and reports. Input readings into and maintain pipeline compliance system (PCS). Assist with performing remedial action by locating, troubleshooting, current interruption and correcting CP deficiencies by implementing remedial activities such as installing anodes, test connections, coating repair and other maintenance work required to maintain adequate level of cathodic protection. Assist with coordination excavating crew in locating mains and installation of CP system. Assist in coordinating with company crews, utility companies, contractors and subcontractors and other entities in order to gain permits for the installation of CP components & remedial measures. Complete maintenance work orders for any CP repairs. Coordinate contractor crew taking annual and periodic CP reads. Assist technicians with investigation of "no locates" and CP deficiencies. Inspect main/or service line casing for proper insulation and protection. Calibrating, servicing and maintaining test equipment's, ensuring they are always in good working condition. Update, manage and maintain cathodic protection data for all cathodically protected gas facilities in pipeline compliance system (PCS). Retrieving and correcting information obtained from PCS for review as required, such as pipe-to-soil potentials, rectifier and bond readings, investigation and maintenance information etc Preparing corrosion reports and field sketches in a format acceptable for entry into GIS system (eGIS) and PCS. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required. QUALIFICATIONS Must have high school diploma or GED AND must have taken high school algebra, chemistry or physics. Must have a valid driver's license. Must demonstrate a good mechanical, mathematical and electrical aptitude. Must pass an examination as specified by the department for entrance into this job classification. Must complete basic level corrosion training such as AUCSC Appalachian underground corrosion short course training or equivalent within one year of job entry. Must attain CP Tester NACE certification (Level 1) within two years of job entry. Ability to develop general understanding of company policies and departmental procedures. Must be capable of making accurate and legible transcriptions of data. Must be capable of working well with others. Must have a good verbal and written communication skills.
