Google Epitaxy Hardware and Operations Manager in Fremont, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience working in a III-V semiconductor manufacturing technical environment, or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree.

  • 10 years of experience in a leadership role in manufacturing or operations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 15 years of experience in III-V epitaxy operations, manufacturing or development leadership.

  • 5 years of experience in statistical process control, scaling manufacturing and yield improvement in III-V epitaxy or III-V fabrication, especially GaN and related materials.

  • 5 years of experience in vendor development management or engineering.

  • Ability to collaborate, influence, and resolve conflicts cross-functionally with internal and external partners.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

Pulling on your technical and leadership expertise, you lead end-to-end research projects in multiple areas of expertise across data center facilities and manage a team of direct reports working on equipment installation, troubleshooting and debugging.

As an Epitaxy Hardware and Operations Manager, you will have responsibility for epitaxy operations, advanced hardware maintenance and vendor relationships. You will lead the team toward excellence in execution by streamlining operations, improving Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting and driving efficiency. You will lead vendor development and play a central role in vendor business relationships for Raxium’s requirements.

Google's Raxium display group has established a revolutionary semiconductor materials display technology that enables new functionality in display products, bringing to users a closer and more natural linkage between the digital and physical realms in applications such as augmented reality (AR) and light-field display. With start-up roots and a state-of-the-art compound semiconductor fab in Silicon Valley, Raxium is seeking to build upon its engineering team with an aim to disrupt next-generation display markets.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
