OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a high energy, dynamic and experienced Survey Party Chief to join our Greenwood Village, CO office. Local candidates only.

Job Description Merrick & Company is seeking career minded individuals for challenging projects including all types of Land Surveying related work. Projects include Boundary, ALTAs, Easement/ Right-of Way Surveys, Topographic surveys, GPS control surveys, design surveys, Aerial mapping ground support, Terrestrial LiDAR, Bathymetric and construction layout. Will work under responsible charge of a professional land surveyor.

Typical salary range for this position is $34 - $36 per hour. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Responsibilities Ability to work alone and have the ability to supervise over a field survey team, ensuring that the field crew is properly equipped with personal protection equipment and following company safety procedures, coordination with contractors and clients on project sites, preparation of field notes and sketches, adherence to local, state, and federal survey regulations, accurate completion of daily timesheets, crew reports, vehicle inspections, and data downloading procedures, manage survey equipment & truck maintenance and may perform office work as directed.

Requirements/Experience Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in field surveying and specifically five (5) years minimum as a field Party Chief. Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier. Experience with Trimble GPS and Total Station survey equipment is required. Candidate is willing to travel up to three (3) weeks at a time (Out of town projects are usually occasional). Must have experience with PLSS, Easement/Right-of Way Surveys, Platting, ALTA's, boundary surveys (retracement and route), property descriptions, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, and construction staking assignments. Experience in HDS (scanning) collection using a Trimble SX10 and/or Leica BLK360 is desired. Experience in using drones for aerial and topo collection is desired but not required. Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality. The ability to interpret construction plans and drawings while on staking projects. Experience with Trimble Business Center for processing field data is desired but not required. Experience performing survey related research is desired. Colorado Land Surveyor Intern (LSI) or PLS license is preferred but not required. The ability and desire to become licensed within 5 to 6 years will be encouraged. Experience with Civil3D, AutoCAD and/or GIS software experience is a plus. Ability to interpret survey plats and perform field calculations for searching out corner monumentation during boundary retracement is desired. Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Physical Requirements Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted. Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments. Comfortable with working in steep terrain and heights. Ability to work in variable climate and environmental conditions including extreme temperatures, precipitation, and wet/muddy conditions. Requires the ability to carry survey instruments and equipment. Requires the ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
