Position Summary:
Arkansas State University is seeking to hire a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as an English Instructor, specializing in teaching general education courses, primarily Composition I and II. The ideal candidate will also have the capability to instruct world literature courses. This position primarily involves online teaching, with most courses offered asynchronously and occasionally synchronously via Zoom
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaching load of the faculty is normally 5 courses per semester
Work closely with the Director of First Year Writing to ensure alignment with goals of the composition curriculum
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students in an online setting
Familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management systems for course delivery and management
Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and student needs
General Days/Hours:
Online delivery
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed (for zoom classes)

This position has been identified as a telecommuting position. The duties are performed during standard work hours of 8am-5pm at a predefined and approved work location. Individuals filling this role must have dedicated work space that provides privacy and security related to the work being performed. Additionally, individuals must have secure internet access with appropriate upload/download capabilities to perform the duties associated with the position. Individuals in this position will be required to review and acknowledge the Telecommuting Guidelines and Telecommuting Agreement for A-State
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned Master's Degree in English
Previous experience teaching composition and/or literature courses, preferably in an online or distance learning environment
