Job Description

Network Security Engineers are responsible for deploying, configuring, and administering many network and security-related hardware and software pieces. This could include a firewall, router, web proxy, and various network monitoring tools. They are the company's first line of defense against unauthorized access from outside sources or potential security threats. In addition to knowing how to mitigate potential threats, they strategize how to stay vigilant and prepare before security threats begin.

Essential Functions

  1. Spearhead strategic security initiatives focusing on network security enhancements.

  2. Take charge of the analysis, selection, and enterprise-wide implementation of network security tools, focusing on network security enhancements.

  3. Manage network intrusion protection systems (NIPS), host micro-segmentation systems, network behavioral/analytics systems (NBA), web proxy, packet capture devices, and perimeter security technologies.

  4. Aid the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CIRT) in investigating network related security events.

  5. Coordinate and oversee log analysis to ensure policy and security requirements are met

  6. Work with SIEM, SOC, and CIRT engineers to develop network security related content.

  7. Participate in risk assessments, audits, and other operational processes to ensure an optimal security posture

  8. Provide risk management information and guidance to support company initiatives and ensure cross-functional collaboration with internal audit, security, and legal departments.

  9. Collaborate closely with various stakeholders including Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Security Operations and IT operations teams to innovate, upgrade, implement, and secure technology solutions.

  10. Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level

  11. Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

  12. Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or cybersecurity required or equivalent combination of education and experience

  2. Minimum 7 years in network engineering required or equivalent combination of education and experience, with 2 years in Network Security preferred.
