Mutual Fund Clearing Services provides mutual fund trading, settlement, and related clearing services to a number of banks, brokerage firms and trust companies. It was created in March 1997 as a way to offer institutions the same robust mutual-fund processing capabilities available to Schwab clients on a direct basis. Our clearing offer allows clients to tap into the processing benefits of mutual fund omnibus processing and capture broader product offerings through our expansive fund offering, while leveraging an efficient “one to one” account operating interface.

What you’ll do:

The Clearing Fund Services team has both internal and external institutional customers. This team is responsible for all aspects of maintaining our security master which includes the following:

  • Updating the sub-accounting system with fund additions, fund maintenance, corporate actions

  • Keeping our systems in synch, including MS Excel and Access Database information

  • Communicating out to our clients with the most up to date product information

  • Fielding inquiries from internal and external institutional clients related to questions about our product offering

  • Complex research is often required, which depends on a deep understanding of our processes, and how they affect both internal and external clients

  • An ability to operate in a fast paced, tight timeline environment, as many of the inquiries received are related to trading that need to be resolved on the current trading day

  • Interface with various levels of seniority with our clients

Clearing Fund Services is looking for a customer focused Clearing Specialist who will be responsible for maintaining, establishing and reporting mutual fund security master information to Clearing Correspondents. The candidate is expected to be able to conduct intensive research and apply it to large research projects utilizing analytical and problem solving skills. This individual will also maintain the Clearing sub accounting system(s), process and reconcile corporate actions, trouble shoot issues for both external and internal clients, document operational procedures, participate in vendor system testing and support Correspondent conversions and de-conversions. This role reports to the Team Manager of Clearing.

What you have:

  • Possesses strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrates flexibility and good judgment in dealing with multiple tasks and changing priorities in a very fast paced, accuracy and deadline driven environment

  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers

  • Is detail oriented and exhibits excellent organizational and time management skill

  • Has working knowledge of Microsoft applications; Word, Excel, and Access

  • Has 3+ years of Brokerage Operation experience (preferably in mutual funds)

  • Cultivates productive working relationships within the team, other departments as well as Correspondents

  • Exercises good judgment and decision making skills both independently and collaboratively with team members and peers

  • Series 7 licensed preferred upon hire. Candidate must be willing to obtain the license within 12 months as a condition of employment
