Our Opportunity:

As the Sr. Team Manager you will be primarily responsible for the decision support needs of Operations. This includes the following product areas: Cashiering, Document Control, Managed Accounts, Trading & Middle Office and Margin Services. The Senior Team Manager role will lead a team of reporting analysts in the Analytics & Business Insight (ABI) department. Along with managing a team of reporting analysts, this role calls for hands-on involvement in the design, development and maintenance of reports.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage, organize, and oversee the daily operations and activities of the ABI Delivery team (1-5 employees and/or contingent workers) where some employees may not be co-located

  • Assign and manage development tasks

  • Provide feedback for individual contributor development including training, mentoring, and coaching as required

  • Manage project queue and work with internal clients to prioritize projects/tasks

  • Evaluate candidates for new positions

  • Work side by side with internal client groups to understand their business reporting and decision support needs (This includes gathering and documenting business requirements, negotiating timelines/priorities with internal business partners, development, and delivery of solutions)

  • Design and construction of new reports as well as simplification and enhancement of existing reporting and reporting processes

  • Leverage an analytic mindset to develop visualization of key trends and insights for decision making

  • Collaborate with colleagues within Schwab ABI as well as other technical groups across the firm in the design and implementation of solutions to meet project goals

  • Be responsible for all phases of business intelligence/reporting development and information delivery including gatheringm of business requirements

  • Perform data analysis, programming, interface design, testing, documentation, maintenance and technical project management

What you have:

  • BS/BA in degree in Engineering, Information Management, Finance, Mathematics or related field

  • 8-10 years’ experience as a Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, or BI/Report Developer

  • Strong business consultancy skills that include; participation in business war room discussions, recommending business process direction and action, using data analytics to assist in driving decision making

  • Demonstrated successes as a team lead and managing small-to-medium sized projects

  • Ability to guide teams to appropriately scope and execute data analytics focused on the most meaningful and relevant metrics

  • Track record of solid project execution with deliverables having minimal defects

  • Advanced knowledge in database technologies

  • Excellent communication, management and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize and make timely decisions

  • Must be a critical thinker and solutions-oriented

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong influencing, decision-making and conflict resolution skills

  • Experience writing detailed business requirements, functional specifications or technical requirements

  • Must be able to quickly grasp complex concepts and learn new technologies

  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts, with advanced SQL skills on Teradata platform; ability to write code freehand completely from scratch and understand existing complex SQL

  • Project management experience/knowledge with the ability to drive projects to successful completion

  • Experience interfacing with internal business partners at various levels including senior management

  • Experience with Teradata a plus

Preferred

  • Demonstrated experience with managing a team of statistical analytics, business analyst or developers

  • Experience with statistical/analytical tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R or similar)

  • Experience with visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, JMP, Domo or similar)

  • Knowledge of the brokerage business, financial services, and/or Schwab

  • Experience in working in Agile Scrum team and collaborative environment, with resources in different geographical locations
