Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM) is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation, and has over $300 billion under management in mutual funds and ETFs. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, and asset allocation strategies, as well as money markets funds. What you’ll do:

It is the goal of the CSIM Fund Administration, Custody, Treasury, Operations & Reporting group to actively contribute in the success of our proprietary mutual fund business. Our group is focused on our fund business and improving the risk management, administration, fund accounting, tax, reporting, and operations of the products and assets managed within CSIM.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of Accounting Policies within Fund Administration, covering key areas in Fund Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax, Transfer Agency, and Finance. This individual will also assist overseeing the preparation and delivery of board reporting, metrics, and risk reporting for the entire team, as well as other management reports for the senior leadership team.

This role requires partnering with all functional areas within CSIM, including product management, distributor oversight, project management, vendor oversight, compliance, legal, finance, portfolio management and trade operations. A key function of this role is the continued analysis of work flow and recommendation for process improvements along with capabilities to work independently on complex problem-solving initiatives. Additionally, this person will ensure that internal controls are documented, implemented and appropriately monitored. This role also includes responsibility to stay abreast of regulatory changes and relevant industry changes/trends and helping implement those changes on a go forward basis. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Managing Director of the team.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversight and managing CSIM Fund Administration’s Accounting Policies

  • Establishing/maintaining and overseeing relationships with key Fund vendors

  • Partnership with all functional areas within CSIM to coordinate and initiate Accounting Policy reviews/updates as well as any industry changes/trends

  • Providing daily business and operational support to key fund complex partners including executing on product initiatives and external intermediary product offering business

  • Assisting with variety of legal, regulatory and compliance activities

  • Preparing management reports/metrics, governance committee reports and fund board reports

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred

  • 8+ years’ experience within the Financial Services industry and 5+ years’ experience within Fund Accounting/Administration, Operations, and Mutual Funds preferred

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance competing priorities in adherence to strict timeframes and deadlines

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work across many lines of business

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness

  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
