Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM) Technology is part of the Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization which is responsible for the company’s use of information technology including all telecommunications, operations, and client and business applications.

CSIM Technology is aligned to support the technology needs of Charles Schwab Investment Management Inc. (CSIM), which is the investment advisor for Schwab’s proprietary mutual funds, referred to as the Schwab Funds; and it includes Schwab’s exchange-traded funds, referred to as the Schwab ETFs™. With more than 100 funds and over $290bn in assets under management, CSIM is the 3rd largest provider of index funds, 5th largest provider of ETFs, and the 7th largest provider of money market funds in the US.

This Senior Staff Product Manager (Technical) position within CSIM Technology reports to the Senior Manager and will provide technical product expertise for the Operations, Finance, Performance, and Policies and Controls technology team. The individual will play a key role implementing and managing vendor solutions for projects sponsored by the Chief Operating Officer.

What you’ll do:

This is a Senior Staff Product Manager (Technical) role based in Denver, CO, responsible for management and welfare of a product at all stages of the application lifecycle including vendor relationships with partner firms. The role drives strategy and manages product implementation, enhancements, and defines supportability requirements. The role monitors the needs of the CSIM business, competitor moves, and marketplace trends to identify and pursue new product opportunities.

The role will work as part of an agile project team dedicated to selection and implementation of a best-in-class reconciliation solution that will provide controls to ensure high data quality for operational, financial, and regulatory purposes. The role will collaborate with team members to devise and implement business rules and exception-based workflows that increase data management efficiency and create scale in data delivery to internal clients. In addition to core product management responsibilities, the role will be part of a movement to continually enhance a culture of trusted data for use across the investment process lifecycle.

The role includes hands-on management of internal and external resources and works directly with stakeholders from business and technology functions to bring the product to launch. The role will promote the product internally and provide training to ensure optimal usage. The role requires a detailed technical understanding of the product and the ability to translate feature requirements into engineering specifications. The role must also be able to design software, reporting, and data integration processes that support the product.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A university degree from a well-respected academic institution; advanced degrees in Information management, Computer Science, Business Administration and/or other professional certifications are a plus

  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management or operations experience for an investment management firm with a focus on data-related functions highly preferred

  • Proven record of delivering vendor-based technology solutions within agreed upon budgets and timeframes

  • Strong analytical skills and proficient in the use of SQL, Microsoft Excel, and data / workflow modeling tools such as Visio

  • Significant experience transforming teams through technology, organization, culture, process and business change management

  • Substantiated experience raising the bar on staff delivery performance and cultivating high performance work environments
