The Advanced Portfolio Technology/SPARKS team delivers critical Portfolio Accounting and related domain based functionality, enabling Schwab to deliver Cost Basis, Gain/Loss, Investment and Tax Planning capabilities. The team is focused on technology strategy, design and implementation of the Portfolio Accounting domain to provide core accounting functionality, scalability and availability and integration with Schwab systems. This role is for a 'Staff' position in Advanced Portfolio Technology (APT) and will play a critical role in the modernization effort that is in progress
What you’ll do:
Code and tests technical solutions, identify deficiencies and proactively recommends best practice technical solutions.
Contribute to development and implementation of RESTful web services
Ensure that all development practices are in compliance with employer's best practices policies and procedures
Understand the necessity of and contributes to coding standards
Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies.
Communicate effectively with other disciplines including Managers, Architects, Developers, Project Management, Test, Infrastructure/ and Production Support within and outside the organization
Coding and testing of new modules based on technical specifications as needed.
Maintenance of existing product code, as required.
Support and maintain the company’s existing production software solutions and core technologies.
What you have:
The candidate will have a minimum of 3 years technology experience working on unix/linux platforms doing application development on server side J2EE, RDBMS(Oracle) and No SQL db like Mongo. Experience implementing RESTful services is a plus.
Candidate must have experience working in an enterprise wide multi technology application environment.
Experience working in an agile environment
Experience working in atlassian tool(jira, bit bucket) stack is preferable
Financial services domain knowledge
Experience working in a geographically distributed team environment(Employee+ offshore teams)
Good verbal and written communication skills.
