Description

Robert Half has partnered with a regarded hospital system in search of an individual to take up the role of an Emergency Department Patient Service Representative. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients entering our emergency department, collect patient demographics, insurance, and co-payment. This shift is 10 pm - 6:30 am.

Responsibilities:

• Assist and direct patients and family members to the appropriate areas within the emergency department.

• Gather necessary patient information, register the patients verbally, and complete all necessary administrative requirements.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy according to HIPAA protocols.

• Collaborate efficiently with the medical team to help in hastening the patient’s registration and transition to medical evaluation.

• Provide accurate information to the patients and their families regarding their visit.

• Verify and process insurance details and handle other relevant documentation.

• Address patient queries, concerns, and complaints swiftly and professionally.

  Requirements

• Knowledge of office functions and procedures

• Ability to handle documentation and maintain data integrity

• Experience in training staff on procedures and policies

• Understanding of insurance, Medicare, authorizations, and deductible

• Familiarity with collection processes and handling deposits

• Capable of performing ad hoc financial tasks

• Good typing skills and the ability to handle correspondence efficiently

• Knowledge of safety guidelines and quality assurance processes

• Ability to handle copays in a healthcare setting

• Demonstrated critical thinking ability

• Ability to maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment
