Valley National Bank Sr. Business Analyst, Technology & Transformation in Morristown, New Jersey

The Sr. Business Analyst, Technology & Transformation leads and mentors Business Analyst team members in robust change management initiatives. This role supports the Commercial Bank and the Treasury and Payment Technology project teams by implementing change initiatives across the bank. Many of the initiatives are highly visible in the broader organization and represent complex challenges including multiple integrated systems and stakeholder departments. This role is critical to ensuring that Treasury and Payment Processing Technology requirements are fully identified, well-documented and incorporated into project deliverables. This role partners with business owners to develop test scripts and execute tests and is also tasked with ensuring a smooth transition into production. Additionally, this role partners with business owners and the Project Management Office to implement process improvements and efficiency gains.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of Business Analyst experience, preferably supporting Commercial Banking products and payments. We're seeking a candidate who is energized by identifying complex problems and proposing feasible solutions. As a seasoned Sr. Business Analyst, we're seeking someone with a willingness to take ownership of the full Transformation life cycle, from identifying a problem to executing on a solution, with a strong sense of urgency. In addition to deep analytical skills, the ideal candidate will be an effective collaborator, with the ability to forge strong relationships with internal partners in the Commercial Bank.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead the work of the Business Process Analyst team -- Assist in the training, mentoring, interviewing and performance feedback of staff.
  • Document business and functional requirements, including current state and target process and data flow in relation to projects impacting Dep Ops. Implement process improvements, quantify and track efficiency gains.
  • Assess the impact of changes on existing organization and business processes and ensure all interdependencies are identified.
  • Work with Dep Ops production team to develop project acceptance criteria and test scripts.
  • Manage day to day project requirements including ensuring resource availability, following up on open items and facilitating coordination with other departments when necessary.
  • Provide thought leadership on business process excellence and continuous improvement. Assist in creating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong, mutually respectful working relationships with internal business partners and external vendors / contractors, within a complex program that aims to transform many of the core processing systems of the bank.
  • Assist management in the capture, analysis and presentation of data to support the taking of business decisions.
  • Collaborate with members of the Central PMO to drive requirements and keep progress on track for multiple work streams within a complex business transformation program.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to exercise initiative, problem identification, problem solving and independent decision making.
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Skilled in MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
    • Preference for skill in Excel functions such as pivot tables, macros and formulas and the ability to present data to facilitate decision making.
    • Previous experience in the use of Visio to document process flows preferred.
  • Experience working in a financial institution, preferably with knowledge of Deposit and Payment products.
  • Ability to coordinate amongst multiple teams to meet project-based deadlines.
  • Must be able to thrive under pressure, multi-task and manage competing priorities.
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree, in Degree in Business, Accounting, Engineering or related field and a minimum of 5 years' experience in business or process analysis.
  • Experience in retail banking back-office operations and/or PMP or Six Sigma Certification preferred.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
