Job Description

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City’s children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families at risk of a crisis through preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home. Each year, the agency’s Division of Child Protection responds to more than 50,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families. ACS is also a key part of NYCs early childhood and education continuum, providing childcare assistance to thousands of child welfare involved and low-income children so they can access safe, affordable, quality care.

Under supervision of the Clinical Manager, the Community Coordinator supports the administrative needs of the Children’s Center Qualified Individual (QI) team for children/placed in a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) placement. The Community Coordinator supports QI/CFS to ensure that cases are processed accurately and timely according to office procedures and the appropriate state regulations.

The responsibilities of the Community Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Schedule, track, and document court hearings/case conferences.

  • Respond to requests for information from QI/CFS, Clinical Manager and/or Deputy Director and/or other ACS divisions.

  • Provide administrative assistance by researching files/documents/system database, escalate complex requests to the Clinical Manager.

  • Liaise with multiple community resources to support QI level of care decision-making and in making appropriate community referrals.

  • Review case documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and local regulations.

  • Coordinate work related to follow-up/action steps on incomplete/pending court reports.

  • Aid Providers when required and review submission of documents for completeness.

  • Maintain Control Logs with relevant residential status information.

  • Liaise with the OPA/Intake units/staff/Provider Agencies/stakeholders.

  • Assist in implementing special projects requiring information on child specific cases and administrative prep for complex case conferences.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY OF $67,983.

maltreatment report.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

  2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
