Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer for an exciting opportunity based in Orlando, FL. This role is responsible for handling a variety of mechanical engineering project requirements, which include system design, structural calculations, acceleration forces, load calculations, material stress design, system installation, check-out support, and start-up assistance. The successful candidate will be working on system integration projects for clients in industries such as entertainment and manufacturing. You will act as a technical lead on projects and guide lower-level engineers, technicians, and contractors. Moreover, you will play the role of a Project Manager on smaller projects ranging from $50k to $250k, handling everything from implementation plans, assignment of work to meet project deadlines, purchasing and subcontractor requirements, to the development of costs and proposal of change orders to contract scope.

Hard Skills

  • In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, components, stress analysis, acceleration forces

  • 3D CAD (AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • 10 years of experience in relevant areas

  • Ability to design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems

  • Ability to perform system analysis/calculations including: Stress, fatigue, reliability, life expectancy, tolerance studies

  • Knowledge of ride system design requirements for attractions involving guest accelerations, reach envelope, ingress/egress, weight, and emergency evacuation analysis and implementation upon control system failure in worst-case scenarios

Soft Skills

  • Organizational skills

  • Effective oral and written communications

  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters

  • Ability to lead projects and guide lower-level engineers, technicians, and contractors

  • Experience in project management

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in ORLANDO, Florida.

Work Environment

You will be joining a small local team of five professionals for their theme park division based in Windemere. Most of the work will be on-site at a renowned entertainment hub. The team has a laid-back culture and each division operates independently. Travel could potentially be up to 35%, but all of the work for this group is based in Orlando.
