Our Opportunity:

Charles Schwab is looking for a Sr. Network Engineer to join our newly formed Cloud Operations team. The ideal candidate is a Network Engineer with software engineering skills who is passionate about automation and innovative ways of delivering and operating network functions in our rapid growing Cloud Platforms. As part of Cloud Operations team, you will focus on automating the processes involved in building and managing the underlying networks that support our cloud services. Also responsible to identify and deliver network projects in support of business initiatives, and platform improvements and enhancements for continuous operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with our cloud platform engineering and operational teams in designing network solutions from concept to production.

  • Execute Cloud Service integration, load balancing, and automation tasks

  • Drive scaling of current network designs to meet the demand of our Cloud platform customers

  • Automate workflow and execution of deployments on a global scale

  • Work closely with our automation teams in transitioning and defining new tools that allow us to scale at larger volumes

  • Build and deploy a consistent, stable and scalable infrastructure through complete automation and orchestration of network services

  • Find innovative ways to combine numerous repetitive tasks, design and implement the network models to support the rapid growth, monitoring, capacity planning and automated break-fix of common issues

  • Troubleshoot any issues in the network for services affected in the data center and provide technical support and guidance to Data Service Operations teams

  • Support network upgrade projects or initiatives, through the lifecycle, including design, test and deployment.

  • Monitored network systems logs daily to ensure the entire system was operating at an optimum level

What you have:

  • 8 + years of experience in technically focused Information Technology roles

  • 6+ years of specific to Network and/or Network Security technologies

  • 3 + years of hands-on experience in F5 load balancing solution is must, including knowledge of SSL certificates and its installation on load balancers.

  • 5 + years of experience in supporting routers, firewalls, layer 2 and layer 3 switches

  • 4 + years of experience with network systems management and monitoring tools

  • 5 + years of experience in fast-paced multi-vendor heterogeneous environments

  • Solid Networking design and engineering experience – Layer 2/3, QoS, 802.1x, and WAN Experience with Network systems management and monitoring tools Experience with VPN's and other remote access applications

  • Expertise with network products (Cisco routers and switches, F5 APM, GTM and LTMs, etc.)

  • Experience with DNS, LDAP, NTP, Radius, GSLB, domains and various IP based applications

  • Experience with both Linux and Windows server environments a plus Exposure to global network design and management desirable

  • Any network scripting and automation experience is preferred

  • Scripting experience utilizing a variety of languages such as PHP, PERL & SHELL

  • Requires experience in dealing with large-scale information systems projects and service delivery

  • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and operating systems

  • Expected to maintain deep knowledge of industry trends and identify new technologies which can enhance the service provided to the business.

  • Must work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills (oral and written) and technical understanding to take complex technical concepts and present them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Knowledge of Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) a plus

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related fields is required Financial Industry exp
