Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Technology Infrastructure Services, the Vice President of Data Center Operations is responsible for the leadership and oversight of Schwab’s Data Center Operations and related IT services including Hardware Planning and Installation, Operational Continuity, Enterprise Batch processing, and process ownership for technology Change and Problem Management processes. Based in Phoenix, AZ, the VP will lead a team of Managing Directors and 300 staff in the execution of their various duties while managing a significant budget. Additional responsibilities will include:
Driving Technology planning, strategy, implementation and support for the company’s Data Center Infrastructure Technologies and Business Technology Operations.
Partnering with Schwab Security Operations to maintain secure and available systems with a focus on controlling high availability and security of Schwab systems, ensuring that systems and applications are operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Managing the Technology Change, Incident, and Problem Management Policies and Procedures; managing the change and risk being introduced into the environment.
Technology Disaster Recovery Policy oversight, ensuring all applications have DR plans and are tested on a scheduled basis protecting physical security of IT hardware assets in the data center.
Develop and improve the DR policy with evolving technology while partnering with Business Continuity for global recovery situations and process improvements.
Providing oversight to batch processing to ensure Schwab client and internal transactions properly update Schwab systems of record, client accounts, and external business partners.
Maintain policy and procedure to ensure physical security of IT hardware assets in the data center as well as procedures for proper, secure disposal of equipment.
Direct interaction with senior leaders across Schwab such as Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer and their associated leadership teams, as well as internal & external auditors ensuring robust IT operations and data center availability plan, including adherence to regulatory and non-regulatory security and data related obligations.
Partner with TIS leadership, recommending or supporting IT strategies, policies and procedures to meet stated or anticipated business objectives, advancing the performance and efficiency of the organization.
Accomplish financial objectives of meeting budget expectations, forecasting requirements, analyzing and addressing any variances.
Minimum 10+ years’ experience in a senior Data Center Operations leadership role with a demonstrated capacity to lead complex, large-scale, cross-functional operations and application development initiatives; 5 + years senior leadership experience, preferably in a diversified financial services environment.
Experience in driving transformative ITIL and other standard IT service management programs with decreased time to market focused on integrating modern concepts such as DevOps, LeanOps, or similar constructs.
A growth-oriented leader who can create an innovative vision for the future and inspire the team to execute on the transformation and design for the mission.

Able to act decisively in making solid, informed judgment calls in response to both the technological and critical regulatory environment as they relate to day-to-day business issues.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.
Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior level executive presence.
Experienced in effectively assessing, selecting and developing talent for the firm; adept at providing balanced, direct and actionable feedback to employees.
Highly collaborative and able to create followership; thrives on initiating, building and cultivating strong authentic relationships inside and outside the group; navigates and activates alignment across organizational silos.
An undergraduate degree is required; Master’s degree preferred.
