Robert Half Tax Preparer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Preparer to join our accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately preparing and filing state and federal tax returns for our clients, individual and business entities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic work environment, demonstrate strong analytical skills, credibly handle complex tax issues and maintain an in-depth knowledge of tax regulations and laws.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare federal, state, or local tax returns for individuals, business entities or estates.

  • Understand and maintain knowledge of current tax laws, regulations, and updates.

  • Interview clients to collect the required financial information and documents.

  • Use tax preparation software to efficiently and accurately complete returns.

  • Review financial records, expenses, and income to adjust and calculate the total tax payable.

  • Recommend tax strategies that align with clients’ financial goals.

  • Ensure compliance with taxation rules and regulations.

  • Maintain secure and organized digital and paper records of clients’ financial information.

  • Answer tax-related questions and provide future tax planning to clients.

  • Collaborate with auditors during tax audits and assessments.

  • Assist clients with tax disputes and adjustments, effectively navigating through appeals or court processes as needed.

    Requirements

  • achelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

  • Valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) required.

  • Proven experience as a Tax Preparer.

  • Familiarity with tax preparation software and filing systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.

  • Strong numerical skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of account reconciliation.

  • High level of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.

  • Knowledge of state and federal tax regulations.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification will be a plus.
