Robert Half Bookkeeper in Portsmouth, Virginia

Description We are offering an opportunity to join our team as a Bookkeeper located in Portsmouth, Virginia. This role involves managing financial records, including the accurate entry of bills and invoices, collections management, and handling some aspects of HR administration. You'll be working in a detail-oriented environment, where your proficiency in QuickBooks and understanding of bookkeeping principles are crucial for success.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately enter and maintain records of bills and invoices using accounting software, preferably QuickBooks.

• Ensure the accuracy of coding, classification, and timely payment of invoices.

• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies as needed.

• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices.

• Communicate with customers regarding payment status and resolve any billing issues.

• Implement collection procedures to minimize outstanding receivables.

• Process incoming payments and reconcile accounts receivable ledger.

• Prepare and send invoices to customers promptly and accurately.

• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.

• Generate ad-hoc reports as required by management.

• Assist in maintaining employee records, including time-off balances, benefits enrollment, and payroll processing.

• Support HR functions such as onboarding new employees and administering employee policies. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar Bookkeeper role

• Proficiency in bookkeeping software, especially QuickBooks

• Demonstrated skills in account reconciliation and accounts payable (AP)

• Experience with accounts receivable (AR) and bank reconciliations

• Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Excel

• Experience with month-end close procedures

• Familiarity with payroll processes

• Knowledge of accounts receivables systems and new account setup

• Ability to manage weekly account payable tasks

• Adept at multi-tasking, prioritizing, and managing time efficiently

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Proactive learner with the ability to work independently.
