Responsible for the creation of useful and desirable web and mobile applications for the industrial internet of things. Contribute to multiple user experience engagements as well as work on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized business domains.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Develop visual language studies that explore multiple approaches to the overall aesthetic of a product, with regard to brand and experience values and underlying product capability and behavior

  • Work with interaction designers and user interface developers to design the visual aspects of product user interfaces

  • Creates visual design specifications and documentation that provide detailed instructions for developers regarding typography, spacing, color and other aspects of a product's user interface

  • Creates multiple variations to a single design component to explore how different treatments meet design requirements and brand/experience goals

  • Explains and defends design decisions to other members of the project team including developers, product managers, marketers and other designers

  • Constructively participates in critiques of own design ideas and those of others

  • Designs new components to contribute to design systems, documents intended usage

  • Develops visual language studies that explore multiple approaches to the overall aesthetic of a product, with regard to brand and experience values and underlying product capability and behavior

  • Contribute to a visual and interaction design system used across software products

  • Communicate designs via wireframes, prototypes, guidelines, specifications, presentations and discussions

  • Participate in discussions relative to the future direction of design and user experience for the industrial internet of things

  • Participate in team discussions about current user experience design projects

  • Research and evaluate emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends

  • Share technical, procedural, and business knowledge with others.

  • Leverage your domain expertise; you are expected to further the knowledge and improve productivity of your colleagues with activities such as creating learning content, giving presentations, and supporting a continuous learning culture.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design with advanced experience.

  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, in English and Spanish.

  • Able to legally work in Mexico. This position can work remotely only within Mexico

  • Skilled in standard wireframe tools, hand drawing and visual communication, and interactive prototyping tools (Figma, XD).

  • B2B Software design application experience

  • Portfolio (online and/or shareable) of demonstrable work is required.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to leverage typography, color, layout, composition and materiality to create visual interface designs that clearly and effectively express product capabilities and behaviors, as well as business and product brand values

  • Experience developing visual language studies, design specifications and documentation

  • Skilled in standard design tools, hand drawing and visual communication, familiar with time-based and interactive prototyping tools

  • Understands the implications of digital display and software technologies and for visual interface design

Business Acumen:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of business products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors. Understands the competitive landscape, regulatory marketing, etc.

  • Creates artifacts to facilitate shared understanding of business benefit for stakeholders

  • Works to create an understanding of how individual people and things fit within larger structures (like systems or organizations), as well as the relationships between parts of a system and the system as a whole

Leadership:

  • Continuously measures deliverables of self and team against scheduled commitments. Effectively balances different, competing objectives

  • Synthesizes information presented and can advise on next steps

  • Goes beyond merely presenting functional information, explains the story of the rationale and benefit of their ideas. Uses relevant and appropriate presentation techniques

  • Creates meaningful stories and two-way communications that drive behavior

  • Uses an understanding of people (users, customers, partners, colleagues, leaders) as a primary motivation for design ideas. Demonstrates the ability to extract and communicate how customer groups are thinking and feeling

  • Connects ideas and solutions from a broad array of sources such as other businesses, coworkers' news sources and so on

  • Understands the value of a disciplined, rigorous and transparent approach to problem solving in a collaborative and matrixed environment
