Northrop Grumman Field Engineer (Systems Administrator) / Principal Field Engineer (Systems Administrator) in San Diego, California

We are looking for you to join our team as a Field Engineer (Systems Administrator) or Principal Field Engineer ( Systems Administrator) based out of San Diego, CA with up to 50% travel throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of USAF exercises ( domestic and overseas travel ).

What You'll get to Do:

Be part of a technical team that operates and maintains a complex tactical communication system in a sustained operational location overseas.

  • Configuring and troubleshooting airborne and terrestrial network connections

  • Administering and auditing Linux operating systems

  • Establishing and verifying system security requirements.

  • Responsible for assisting in implementing and operating security requirements both technical and administrative on classified systems.

  • Work closely with the Active Duty/Government customer as well as internal Northrop Grumman Engineering teams.

  • Work in enclosed areas, adhering to security requirements

  • Coordinate with multiple teams to resolve issues, communicate with and update customers, and prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly reports

This position may be filled as either a Field Engineer (Systems Administrator) or Principal Field Engineer (Systems Administrator).

Basic Qualifications Field Engineer (Systems Administrator):

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years experience. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Must have a Current/Active Secret (or above) clearance with adjudication within the last 4 years

  • Must possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II or greater (CCNA Security, Security+ CE, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CISSP)

  • Advanced experience in Linux security and administration

  • Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation and verification

  • Must pass a physical health assessment and meet the minimal standards of fitness in alignment with AFCENT requirements

  • Requires up to 50% travel throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of USAF exercises.

Basic Qualifications Principal Field Engineer (Systems Administrator):

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years experience. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Must have a Current/Active Secret (or above) clearance with adjudication within the last 4 years

  • Must possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II or greater (CCNA Security, Security+ CE, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CISSP)

  • Advanced experience in Linux security and administration

  • Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation and verification

  • Must pass a physical health assessment and meet the minimal standards of fitness in alignment with AFCENT requirements

  • Requires up to 50% travel throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of USAF exercises.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with tactical data link technologies and operations (Link 16, JREAP-C)

  • Linux Certification (Linux+, RHCA, RHCE, LPIC-1, LPIC-2) or equivalent

  • Network Certification (CCNA/CCNP) or equivalent

  • Security Certification (CISSP) or equivalent

  • Experience with military aircraft operations

  • Experience handling COMSEC materials, following security guidance/procedures, and operating the Simple Key Loader (SKL)

Salary Range: $72,100 - $108,100

Salary Range 2: $88,700 - $133,100

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
