Banking & Trust Services (BTS) is the business enterprise within Schwab overseeing Charles Schwab Bank and the Charles Schwab trust companies. The BTS organization offers deposit, loan and trust products to Schwab clients who are looking for holistic wealth management solutions that complement their brokerage activities. The integrated banking and brokerage services represent the strong value proposition we offer our clients.

Our Opportunity:

Reporting into the Managing Director, Lending Strategy, the Senior Manager will be responsible for developing strategies and plans addressing the most critical challenges facing our lending business and setting the strategic direction for our lending products. The Senior Manager will work closely with internal and external partners to develop analysis and identify insights, key trends and growth opportunities related to the lending product needs of Schwab clients. Additionally, the Senior Manager will act as an internal liaison for key partners such as Bank Sales, Analytics and Business Insights (ABI), and Client Experience on a variety of projects. This role offers the opportunity to build in-depth knowledge across Schwab Bank’s Lending Products through immediate involvement in key initiatives.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with lending team leadership, product owners, sales, marketing, and data partners to develop lending growth strategies

  • Develop and maintain innovative tools to support sales and marketing initiatives

  • Structure and lead analytics and strategy-development efforts to inform the Bank Lending product roadmap

  • Deliver data-driven insights and produce recommendations to support strategic direction and business prioritization

  • Perform regular and ad hoc quantitative analyses across and within Bank Lending product teams, as required by specific projects

  • Manage relationship with data analytics partners and work with product, marketing, and sales partners to prioritize initiatives

  • Develop presentations for senior leadership to socialize ideas, team strategies, results and programs

  • Lead client and field research to establish and refine fact base on client needs

  • Lead cross-product initiatives to increase efficiency and improve the client experience

  • Perform competitive analysis and evaluate industry trends

  • Identify and ensure tracking of key metrics

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the end to end lending experience based on partner, client, rep and advisor feedback

What you have:

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in strategy, preferably with a top-tier consulting firm or strategy group within a financial services firm

  • Financial Services industry experience preferred with banking background a plus

  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills – Ability to create decks that have effective messaging and able to use Pivot Tables and Macros within Excel

  • The ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization

  • Able to understand complex issues, analyze options, and develop strategic plans addressing potential connections and impacts across a large and heavily matrixed organization. Ability to link strategic activities to business outcomes.

  • Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior level executive presence

  • Ability to think strategically and to translate ideas and plans into actions and tactics

  • Exceptional analytical ability for gathering and interpreting complex data including a track record of process improvement

  • Superior analytical skills, research capabilities and attention to detail

  • Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree preferred
