Our Opportunity:

Analytics and Business Insight is a department of 145 team members focused on firm-wide strategic decision support, client behavior diagnostics, advanced analytics, market research, client loyalty, management reporting, and client and prospect data management. What you’ll do:

The Market Research & Client Loyalty team is looking for a senior manager to lead Schwab’s Information Center, a corporate resource for third-party research and data, ABI reports and other key industry information resources. The information Center provides decision support to stakeholders across the firm including senior leaders, Strategy and Client Experience. A Denver-based manager reports to the IC Lead. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the collections and services offered through Schwab Information Centers located in San Francisco, Denver and Austin

  • Develop platforms and manage access to both third-party research reports/data and internal reports on a knowledge management portal, website

  • Prioritize research requests, delegate as appropriate, and address some priority research requests using subscription databases, vendor data and other key industry information resources

  • Provides self-service users with training on research tools and developing search strategy

  • Creates broadly circulated marketing communications to promote use of self-service resources

  • Proactively interprets 3rd party reports and delivers insights to business partners

  • Evaluates, selects and licenses electronic information relevant to Schwab business lines

  • Manages a research budget, partners with Vendor Management Office on contract negotiations and other process

  • Ensures stakeholders have optimal relationships with research vendors and opportunities for analyst interactions and webinars

  • Keep abreast of developments in Information Science to maintain and gain efficiencies; develop business case to deliver new capabilities

  • Supervises the Research Analyst (manager level)

What you have:

  • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science preferred

  • 5+ years managing an Information Center or research function in a library

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience doing business research using a wide variety of data resources including: news, market research, financial filings, industry-specific databases, statistical sources and government and association data

  • Experience evaluating searching behaviors, taxonomy, metadata, and indexing to develop effective web sites and knowledge management

  • Strong written communication skills including communication with senior executives

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to engage with senior level executives

  • Ability to actively network and partner with Schwab business partners

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize, meet tight deadlines, and manage time effectively
