We are seeking an Assistant Controller for our team in the construction industry, based in Tavares, Florida. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity, where you will be instrumental in resolving accounting processes and control needs. You will assist with the implementation of segregation of duties within the accounting functions, across all Revenue, AP, AR and General Ledger accounting. Additionally, you will assess current month-end close procedures and validate or implement new accruals to align the financial cycle with business growth and activity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of segregation of duties within the accounting functions across all Revenue, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR) and General Ledger accounting

• Assess current month-end close procedures and validate or implement new accruals as needed

• Ensure accounting aligns with US GAAP standards

• Work within the SAGE software for all accounting needs

• Report directly to the head of Audit & FP& A

• Manage full-cycle US GAAP Accounting

• Utilize strong mid-level excel skills for financial analysis and reporting

• Apply construction or manufacturing accounting experience, specifically percentage (%) of completion/job costing accounting

• Utilize Accounting Software Systems and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning for efficient management of accounting functions

• Oversee budget processes to ensure alignment with business growth and activity requirements.

Requirements • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role within the construction/contractor industry

• Proven expertise in Accounting Software Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)

• Demonstrated capability in managing all Accounting Functions including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Previous experience in Auditing and Budget Processes

• Proficiency in using Sage Software and Microsoft Excel

• Familiarity with Construction Accounting and its principles

• Knowledge of the percentage (%) of completion method in construction accounting

• Must be able to work collaboratively with various teams and independently when required

• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, advanced degree or certification such as CPA preferred

• Strong understanding of regulatory standards and compliance related to the construction/contractor industry
