Job Description

The Development Officer I identifies , cultivates, solicits , and stewards donors. Builds, supports, and promotes awareness of the Alumni Association and helps develop projects to strategically engage the Texas A&M University-Texarkana alumni. This position also helps plan and coordinate various university events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Solicits prospects for gifts to support university programs and scholarships. Travels locally and out of town as necessary.

  • Assist with alumni engagement process to include attending events off campus.

  • Assists with proper acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship of donors. Works in collaboration with advancement team to prepare prospect research materials and prepares call reports.

  • Participates in developing advancement materials and brochures.

  • Coordinates arrangements for alumni committee and board meetings and other responsibilities as needed to build engagement among alumni.

  • Helps develop and implement university special events .

  • Develops and maintains an online giving program and social network initiative.

  • Works with the advancement team and various campus constituencies to assist with campus fundraising.

  • Maintains call reports and university gift processing in the Blackbaud Database System . Enters personal and confidential donor giving information and confidential biographical records into the database . Designs and runs regular reports from database as a tracking mechanism for Administration . Maintains security of the database by discussing confidential information on the Blackbaud System only with licensed users.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • No prior experience required .

  • Knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others .

  • Ability to work in an environment of constant demands and frequent interruptions.

  • Ability to always maintain confidentiality .

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • E xperience in development , marketing, or similar field s .

  • E xperience planning and implementing special events .

  • Experience in Higher Education

    Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel and w ork beyond normal office hours.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
