Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union Credit Risk Supervisor in Wasilla, Alaska

PURPOSE The Credit Risk Supervisor position is responsible for providing support and collection services for all loan types in accordance with policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, delinquency controls, debt to income analysis, collections and servicing based activities; while maintaining the best public relations possible for the Credit Union, in compliance with state and federal laws.

FUNCTIONS Responsible for member marketing of the Credit Union and knowledge on all services offered to a degree that will enable answering questions, or referring member for specific services. Responsible for the direct supervision of Member Solutions personnel, including operational training, performance evaluation, and scheduling. Accountable for monitoring, preparing, and reporting of special credit areas such as loan modifications, loan impairments, troubled debt restructurings, watch-list loans, bankruptcy tracking, charge-off and charge off payment reports, delinquent loan and account monitoring, collateral in process lists, foreclosures, and real estate owned. Responsible for representing the Credit Union in court and overseeing legal matters, to include monitoring of claims filed, judgments, and the submission of levies or garnishment for all loan types. Oversees and monitors levies, garnishments, attachments, repossessions, returns, overdrawn accounts, daily collection activities, claims processing, bankruptcies, transport process, hardship requests, etc. Work on the collection of high level delinquencies or charge offs (i.e. Real Estate and Commercial Loans) to include negotiating repayment plans, following relevant regulations, notifying borrowers of fees and charges, determining borrowers financial status, maintaining document and records of all collection efforts in compliance with standards. Oversee real estate owned property (OREO) management for the Credit Union: including insurance, collateral maintenance, common area maintenance, and asset liquidation. Process forms required by the Bankruptcy Court, including but not limited to Notice of Claims, Reaffirmation Agreements, and requests for a Relief from Stay. Manages third party attorneys on any complex collection accounts, including foreclosures, judgments, bankruptcies, and levies. This requires collecting and reviewing pertinent loan documents, packaging and submitting engagement letters, communicating the desired action to be taken, and having a general understanding of the laws and legal actions required to accomplish those actions. Inform credit-reporting agencies of loans or accounts with derogatory information, adhere to regulatory reporting requirements, settle member disputes, process AUDs and ACDVs . Monitor required staff training and track additional yearly knowledge base opportunities. Maintain familiarity with Credit Union policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws relating to collections.

PREREQUISITES FOR THIS POSITION Minimum Education: Bachelors degree preferred or relevant work experience. Minimum Experience: Two years experience in dealing with the public, preferably in a financial institution. Two years of real estate collections and commercial risk rating experience highly desirable. Personal Characteristics and Skills: Must be of the highest integrity and with personal habits above reproach. Must be a mature person with sound judgment, and practice confidentiality. Must have the ability to meet and work effectively with people of varying levels of education and experience and to be able to communicate, both written and orally with same. Must be interested in the welfare of people. Must have high degree of initiative. Must be able to take direction and seek counsel of supervisor as necessary. Technical skills must include the ability to operate a calculator and computer terminal.
