Our Opportunity:

The Data Governance Champion will work directly with local and federated technology governance, oversight, compliance, and project management functions within the Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization to drive adoption of data governance policies, standards, and best practices into Schwab's software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Additionally, the DG Champion will develop and manage evaluation processes and artifacts that track data governance objectives within STS.

This role will report directly to: Managing Director of IT Data Governance.

What you’ll do:

  • Represent the IT Data Governance function on local data governance working groups within STS as well as on STS-wide technology governance bodies.

  • Develop process, methodologies, and materials for evaluating new and existing projects against Schwab data governance policies, standards, and goals.

  • Work with leadership within STS to integrate data governance standards and best practices into project management and software development lifecycle processes.

  • Serve in a consultative role to champion data governance standards and best practices within STS.

  • Ensure proper integration with and use of Schwab’s data governance tools platforms.

  • Drive feedback and input from STS community back into the data governance managemen.t teams

  • Track progress against goals, report on status, issues, and problems to senior management.

  • Participate in development of appropriate data governance-focused audit processes and materials to ensure adherence to applicable standards and policies.

  • Coordinate and drive data governance-related regulatory items across appropriate STS channels.

What you have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of data governance concepts and principles a plus.

  • Knowledge of and experience with typical software application and data architectures/flows.

  • Ability to understand and evaluate application and data architecture documentation and diagrams (SADs, Erwin models, etc.)

  • Governance and compliance experience a plus Highly organized, detailed-oriented person

  • Ability to successfully juggle multiple projects, objectives, and work streams.

  • Self-starter who can navigate and thrive in sometimes nebulous circumstances.

  • Effective group leadership, prioritization skills, and the ability to drive focus and attention on high-impact items.
