This role is on the Charles Schwab Digital Service team. We are responsible for delivering innovative, best-in-class solutions. We are obsessed with solving customer needs. The Technical Director for Digital Cross Enterprise (DXE) Platform Management will lead and coordinate initiatives across DXE to mature platform management planning, governance and stakeholder communications -- interacting with other leaders across Digital Cross-Enterprise Platforms, Digital Services and key Schwab stakeholders. Responsibilities will include coordination of planning activities across the platform portfolio, support for governance, risk and control assessments, program resource and financial planning, coordination and delivery of Dashboard Reporting for platforms. Additionally, this role will lead select improvement and engagement initiatives.

This leader will have outstanding organization skills and adaptive communication skills with an ability to flex between the strategic and the tactical, demonstrating a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, team-based product development environment. The Digital Cross-Enterprise Platform organization has been formed to mature and build our cross-enterprise utilities and platforms that deliver scalable solutions for the firm. These capabilities will enable trusted and meaningful experiences for clients and prospects in the channel of their choice. There is significant work to do to establish a maturity model, evaluate existing platforms, develop consistency of behaviors and regular cadence of activities to ensure improvements in planning, building and efficiently running cross-enterprise platforms. In addition, there will be increased focus on first line oversight, risk management and control testing practices for these platforms. This position is being created to service as a critical program management function to establish consistent, high quality practices across DXE and to ensure that DXE will serve as a "model" for the firm for mature and well-run cross-enterprise platform management.
What you’ll do:
Ensure effective cross-enterprise platform management practicesEnsure key controls, internal and external audit requirements and standards, as well as industry best practices are implemented for DXE Platforms.
Collaborate effectively with STS and Schwab Operations as well as key stakeholders across multiple business lines
Coordinate and coordinate content to effectively communicate status updates, annual operating plans and business cases for presentation to key stakeholders and leaders, as needed; ensure format meets the high standards and tone appropriate for business and technology executives.
Collaborate effectively with platform managers, customer journey and utility teams to plan, forecast, report and present program resource needs for capacity planning and forecasting, as needed. Provide consultation, support and coaching to cross-enterprise teams on the effective management of platforms based on the best practices established in our playbooks, software delivery methodologies, and industry best practices.
Collaborate with digital platform and utilities teams to create, regularly publish and update key metrics and KPI dashboards which paint a holistic picture of platform’s grow, scalability, effective operating expense management, efficiency, time-to-market and quality.
Support platform teams in ensuring regular cadence of stakeholder communications, feedback, input and updates. Support RCSA risk management, testing, documentation, artifact management.
Serve as an escalation point on platform management practices for platform and project managers, product owners, budget, purchase requisitions, risks or issue management, etc.
Create and maintain appropriate collaboration and team sites that support effective knowledge management, practices across Digital Cross-Enterprise Platform teams.
What you have:
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in directly relevant program and project management roles for IT portfolios as well as business analysis, planning and operations, and/or related functions.
Proven experience leading and managing complex, cross-organizational technology programs, and projects is critical, preferably in Agile development environments.
Knowledge of Schwab’s annual planning, financial management, sourcing and procurement, internal audit, compliance, and related technical and business processes based on prior Schwab experience would be helpful.
Demonstrated knowledge of program and project management methodologies and best practices, software and product development lifecycles required.
Strong process orientation and demonstrated ability to define and document new or improved platform management processes, templates and tools •Past experience creating a variety of reporting mechanisms for leadership, stakeholders, and team members.
Highly proficient written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. Highly skilled in the creation of presentations, new reporting mechanisms and other documents.
High level of attention to detail, including the ability to assess, and synthesize large amounts of content and data related to program status, issues, risks, dependencies, and schedules and distill it in crisp clear language appropriate for a variety of audiences including technology and business executives.
Excellent verbal communication, presentation, collaboration and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to gain trust, secure buy-in and influence change at all levels. An ability to influence without direct authority, as well as demonstrate an appropriate level of assertiveness, is critical.
Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint) required.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team-based environment that is fast-paced, rapidly changing, and service-oriented.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, learning new skills, and taking on new challenges.
Demonstrated understanding of process improvement programs and processes, with experience driving them successfully within technology organizations highly preferred.
Some background in “operational excellence” and/or Six Sigma helpful.
Prior experience preparing for and participating in internal or external (regulatory) audits, working with internal risk, compliance, and business continuity teams highly preferred.
Working knowledge of knowledge management and development tools including Share-point Team Sites, JIRA, Confluence strongly preferred.
Highly developed analytical, strategic-thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, assignments, and roles.
BA/BS degree required with preference for degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Organizational Behavior or related fields. MS/MBA is a plus.
Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification is strongly preferred. PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP®), Certified Scrum-master (CSM),Scaled Agile Framework Program Consultant (SAFe SPC), Certified Stanford Advanced Senior Program Manager (SAPM), and/or Lean Six Sigma certifications also preferred.
