Our Opportunity:

The Managing Director of Vulnerability Remediation is responsible for day-to-day operations to ensure that the requirements of the Schwab’s Information Security Policy and Standards are carried out for any technology infrastructure functions related to vulnerability identification, analysis, remediation, mitigation and reporting. Primary focus of the role is supporting security concerns for our distributed infrastructure components related to Windows and UNIX/Linux platforms. This position will also ensure that our remediation strategies maintain the accepted corporate risk appetite (SLA’s) for infrastructure technology vulnerabilities and availability. This position provides technical SME consultation to application business partners, Audit and external customers as related to vulnerability management and remediation at the IT infrastructure level.

What you’ll do:

Security Vulnerability Remediation

  • Coordinate, develop and maintain an IT risk management framework in conjunction with Information Services Risk Management (ISRM) and Corporate Risk Management that identifies, assesses, and quantifies risk to support the organization in making informed risk management decisions about information technology resources

  • Provide leadership in supporting the remediation efforts on servers and desktops

  • Work directly with first line of defense teams to prioritize remediation activities with risk based approach

  • Develop long and short term strategic vision and execute plans aligned with TIS, Business Partners and Corporate initiatives

  • Provide leadership in development of the team members skills to support the business plan

  • Drive both service improvements and team efficiencies

  • Oversee the day to day team operations and overall business partnerssatisfaction with our efforts

  • Provide consultation and coordination with application and infrastructure business partnersas related to vulnerability management and remediation


  • Work closely with the remediation team to drive both service results and engagement

  • Work with Security Technology, ISRM, TIS, and application business partners to validate that vulnerability remediation are within established SLA’s.

What you have:


  • Bachelor’s degree (BS preferred) or equivalent experience


  • 15+ years’ experience in technology infrastructure

  • 5+ years technical leadership – project and/or people

  • Deep understanding of the logistics supporting vulnerability remediation and patch management

  • Risk Management experience in a highly regulated industry or environment

  • Knowledge and experience in distributed systems management, Windows and Linux preferred, in a large heterogeneous environment. Architectural and operations knowledge in one or both disciplines.

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex issues and risk management business values to customers both internal and external to the firm

  • Able to work effectively both up and down the management chain
