Job/Position DescriptionThe Research Analyst (Data Analyst IV) performs complex (journey-level) data analysis and data research work. The research analyst is tasked with analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data and information related to the Family Health Services (FHS) department.This position is responsible for the development and maintenance of dashboards that display data used by Family Health Services leadership to improve department functions and track outcomes for women, children, and families served by the department. The Research Analyst consults with internal and external customers to identify user needs, perform data analysis and interpretation, and provide training services.The Research Analyst works closely with staff across FHS and HHSC to support timely and accurate production of recurring data reports, provide actionable analysis, and complete ad hoc reports and responses to requests for information.In some cases, the Research Analyst may be responsible for data extraction or accessing data systems across various departments within HHSC.The Research Analyst has a working knowledge of HHSC rules, policies and procedures, and mission.Completion of job duties requires working under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement and provides excellent customer service to all consumers.Performs other duties as assigned.Essential Job FunctionsPlans, designs, and consults on the display of data for leadership decision-making, maintains routine reporting of data, and implements enhancements and improvements proactively or upon leadership request. (40%)Provides interpretation and performs special research and analyses as needed by program management and leadership (this may involve problem clarification, identifying source data, data collection and aggregation, data analysis, information generation, and reporting and presenting in useful formats). (35%)Participates on assigned committees and workgroups within HHSC to represent Family Health Services on data-related initiatives. (15%)Performs quality assurance and serves as a subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation. Provides guidance on the selection of data management tools, and the development of standards, usage guidelines, and procedures for those tools. (5%)Performs other duties as assigned.
