Our Opportunity:

The Digital Services Technology group is on a mission to relentlessly pursue simplification & modernization, laying the foundation for a digital enterprise. We are seeking to hire a driven, results-oriented senior staff software full stack developer with relevant hands-on experience who shares our passion for technology, innovation and excellence. You will be the supporting the overall technology direction within the group, collaborating with other technical staff members on the latest patterns/concepts and technologies, and actively collaborate with the development teams and technology leaders across Schwab technology on product development, best practices, and automation. On our team, all senior staff developers are involved with a combination of leading, designing and actively participating in the hands-on development within a very dynamic, fast-moving, and agile environment. You will work with a team of seasoned software professionals who have a steadfast commitment to high quality, high performance, high availability and scalable software. The team’s main objective is to maintain all aspects of the software development lifecycle to ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software product releases.

What you’ll do:

  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack of applications, platforms and technologies

  • Partner with product owners and the scrum team to understand the desired solution requirements and capabilities

  • Architect and develop effective solutions that are in line with the organization's vision

  • Continuously improve software engineering practices, processes and services

  • Participate in strategic planning discussions with technical, business and client stakeholders

  • Actively participate in product design and development sessions.

  • Develop efficient and easy to follow technical diagrams/documents, develop high quality code and automated test scripts

  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal technology communities and mentor other members of the team

  • Provide technical direction, mentoring and code reviews to less experienced developers on the team and across the portfolio

  • Act as liaison between technical and non-technical counterparts

  • Strong problem-solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills to provide detailed root cause analysis

  • Able to work independently and in paired/mob programming scenario

  • Work closely with production support teams to monitoring support queues, troubleshoot production issues as well as help identify opportunities for process improvement

What you have:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience building distributed, scalable enterprise-class distributed applications in heterogeneous software, networking and infrastructure environments

  • Deep experience designing and building server-side, multi-threaded applications based upon either Microsoft technologies, specifically utilizing Visual Studio .NET, C# and IIS or Java/Spring framework

  • Strong experience developing/managing REST and SOAP-based Web Service API(s) with WCF, XML, JSON, and XSLT

  • At least 3 years of experience working on Agile Scrum teams with thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures

  • 3-4 years of experience in Cloud Native Apps, public cloud, Pivotal Cloud Foundry with deployment in a continuous integration and continuous delivery model

  • Expert in object oriented analysis, SOA, design patterns, development, implementation and maintenance

  • 5+ years demonstrated real world experience in database principles, such as SQL Server and Oracle; experience with Redis, MongoDB or AeroSpike is a plus

  • Experience working on event-based and message-driven distributed system using RabbitMQ or similar

  • Experience with implementing different unit testing and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) frameworks

  • Good understanding of latest Architecture and Development Standards and Guidelines

  • Independently plans own work and is accountable to meet schedules and deliverables

  • Self-motivated, quick learner that is creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems

  • Experience providing guidance, direction, and feedback to other technical staff in order to meet agreed upon objectives

  • Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various level of technical and non-technical management

  • Proficient managing multiple and changing priorities in a fast-past, dynamic, and geographically dispersed environment

  • Strong interest in industry trends, technology innovation, and best practice

  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism and a strong work ethic with a high level of energy

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
