The Trading eXperience Technology team (TXT) at Charles Schwab is responsible for creating industry leading trading interfaces and trading tools targeting the active trading retail investor. You will be directly responsible for leading technology teams in designing, developing, testing, modernizing, supporting and integrating client facing interfaces and supporting services. Extensive knowledge of modern development processes and technologies is essential in this role. You will also be expected to work closely with business and technology partners to influence, refine and communicate project and delivery plans and strategies to the broader team. Knowledge of the financial services / trading industry is a big plus.
What you’ll do:
The Sr. Manager role is directly responsible for managing team members that are matrixed into several scrum teams. These scrum teams are responsible for design and development through L3 support of client facing trading applications delivered via a web and Windows platform. These teams are also responsible for managing the dependencies to various mid-tier and backend services that are critical for the trading platform. Primary technologies utilized by the scrum teams include: Angular, TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS, .C# .NET/WPF, SQL.
Sr. Managers within the technology organization are responsible for participating in department wide strategy discussions interfacing directly with peers and partners in technology and business teams, proposing, developing and refining plans. Taking these plans and communicating them out to their teams, building awareness and driving to delivery.
Identify and develop talent both within your team as well as participate in a broader program to develop our next generation of engineering talent. Work to create and communicate career paths, find opportunities for individual growth and build networks within the organization and broader Schwab communities.
What you have:
We are looking for adaptable, talented technology and people leaders who have a strong hands-on development or technology background:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or related degree
10+ years of progressive experience in IT across Software Engineering, Software Development roles
5+ years of people management, leading highly technical individuals.
5+ years of experience running small to medium sized projects and initiatives
Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/XP) processes in planning, implementation and support of business application components, including change & release management
Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology & trends
Domain knowledge and experience in application development, including: client/server, web services, portal, middleware, . micro services and micro-UIs
Strong knowledge of software development, testing, CI/CD, DevOps, maintenance and support
Experience with the Atlassian suite of products (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Hipchat)
Strong leadership, communication, facilitation and motivational skills, with the ability to build rapport and grow consensus with team members, peers and other groups
Ability to attract, engage and retain top diverse technical talent
Understand and leverage team member strengths to accomplish corporate goals.
Client focused mindset - exceed the expectations of our internal and external customers.
Must be capable of clearly articulating complex technical issues to all levels of the organization.
Thrive in a fast-paced environment where multiple objectives must be managed concurrently.
3+ years of experience in Financial Services Industry and Trading highly preferred
3+ year experience in a highly regulated industry highly preferred
3+ years of experience with Trading backend and/or frontend systems highly preferred
Strong technology affinity and experience
