Johns Hopkins University Sr. Research Program Coodinator in baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine is seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator (Sr. RPC) who will be primarily responsible for collecting biological samples and supporting the logistics of enrolling and tracking older adults participating in studies of influenza and COVID vaccination and other clinical research studies. This position will require working directly with older human subjects, physician investigators, research team members, and will require skills related to the development of research instruments (questionnaires, surveys, and data forms) necessary for study execution as well as testing and implementation of research protocols, obtaining informed consent, collecting biological samples, collecting and recording data, monitoring clinical course of patients enrolled in clinical studies/trials, and ensuring that research protocols are executed appropriately. This includes implementation of research protocols by recruiting and consenting study eligible individuals into studies, adhering to the IRB approved study designs and activities, and following study specific timelines.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Sr. RPC will recruit and enroll eligible participants into designated clinical study protocols, maintain good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements, with a primary focus on supporting the clinical studies of influenza and COVID vaccination among older adults.

  • Adhere to all protocol requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.

  • Support principal investigator, research nurse, and research program manager in defining information and plans required to accomplish goals of these studies.

  • Guide in the design and creation of protocol specific case report forms as needed.

  • Enter patient demographic and clinical data into institutional database systems as required and respond in a timely manner to special projects or queries related to the data.

  • Organize recruitment venues in outpatient clinics and, senior centers, and recruit subjects into the clinical protocols.

  • Perform home visits as necessary.

  • Perform phlebotomy (required) and vital signs as part of this protocol; also, assist the Healthy Aging Studies Unit with blood draws during non-peak flu season.

Coordinate the Administration of Study Procedures for Clinical and Home Visits.

  • These procedures include, participant recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, data forms, and mailings; phone interviewer schedules, explaining study procedures to prospective participants and speaking with participants from previous studies, contacting potential subjects either by letter or phone; conducting baseline and follow-up interviews and questionnaires.

  • Working with electronic data capturing system (e.g., REDCap) on proper entry of collected data; and performing related project tasks and support as necessary.

  • Clinical duties include specimen collection, labeling and delivery to laboratory.

  • Assist with regulatory duties (e.g., IRB submissions)

  • Submit investigator approved communications regarding multiple research studies with Hopkins IRB office through web-based program.

  • Experience in working with, or willing to be trained in, REDCap data capturing system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Three years related experience.

  • Experience with phlebotomy.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and Access required.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with REDCap.

Starting Salary Range: $40,900 - $71,600 Annually ($52,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
