About the position...

The Data Engineer will be tasked with designing and implementing data solutions within an agile development framework. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in developing and deploying data pipelines and architectures in cloud environments, with a focus on optimising performance and scalability for large-scale data processing

YOU'LL GET TO...

  • Participate in discussions to design scalable and efficient data systems that meet business needs, focusing on performance and scalability. Evaluate options and propose the best solutions.

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality and reliability.

  • Create and optimise data models for analytics and reporting, improving data storage and retrieval for better performance.

  • Manage data warehouses and storage systems, efficiently organising both structured and unstructured data. Implement techniques like partitioning, indexing, and compression to optimise storage.

  • Develop and automate ETL processes using the right tools and frameworks, streamlining data integration and transformation tasks.

  • Work with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to integrate data solutions into existing systems, supporting data-driven decisions across the organisation.

  • Monitor data systems for performance issues, identify bottlenecks, and optimise for better scalability and efficiency. Set up logging, monitoring, and alerts for proactive issue detection.

  • Keep up with new technologies and best practices in data engineering. Experiment with new tools and techniques to improve data processing.

  • Troubleshoot complex issues in ETL workflows and infrastructure, analysing logs and performance data to quickly resolve problems.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE...

  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering.

  • Proficiency in Python or Scala.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and data processing frameworks (Spark, Kafka, etc.).

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with a history of delivering production-grade systems in a team setting.

  • Experience in leading or mentoring a team of 5–6 engineers.

  • Quick learner who takes pride in building new products and engaging others to accelerate technical solutions.

  • Proficiency in designing and managing data processing pipelines using tools like Spark, Kafka Streams, Trino, and Airflow.

  • Knowledge and experience with:

  • cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

  • Git platforms (GitLab, GitHub).

  • Linux systems or Bash scripting.

  • orchestration engines (airflow, conductor).

  • Experience in building scalable data processing systems, both batch and event-based, with high throughput and low latency.

  • Ability to design and implement solutions using NoSQL or GraphDB systems.

  • Exposure to ML and DevOps is highly desirable.

  • BE, BTech, or MCA from an accredited or recognised university.
