  • The Hartford’s Group Benefits Organization seeks a Sales Associate (SA) within our Small Business Sales team. Working closely with Sales Management and key partners across the Group Benefits Organization, Sales Associates will execute key strategies to increase quote activity, prospect for new business and market The Hartford’s products and services primarily through dormant or untapped distribution channels.

Responsibilities:

Within the Group Benefits Small Business space (2-49 lives), the Sales Associate will be accountable for the following responsibilities:

Quote Activity

  • Reengage bottom-quartile Producers (i.e. currently licensed & appointed, no quotes within prior 12 months) within assigned Region and execute sales strategies that result in Producer quoting and placing business with The Hartford

  • Leverage P&C National Client Partnerships (i.e. SIAA) and execute sales strategies that result in increased quoting of The Hartford for Group Benefits

  • Partner with Sr. Customer Advocates to identify, quote and present New Line opportunities on inforce business

    New Business Development

  • Call on Producer Prospects (i.e. not currently licensed & appointed with The Hartford, not quoting The Hartford), and executive sales strategies to result in the Producer Prospect becoming a licensed & appointed Producer and quoting & placing business with The Hartford

  • Prospect non-traditional and alternative distribution channels (i.e. Payroll, Programs & Alliances, Wholesale Producers) and execute sales strategies to generate exploratory discussions with Sales Leaders

    Market The Hartford’s Products and Services

  • Online Quoting: demonstrate platform for Producers & Producer Prospects and support of broader organizational initiatives

  • Promote assign product category/verticals: Business Travel Accident, Supplemental Health or Statutory by coordinating, developing & promoting periodic webinars for all bottom-quartile Producers & Producer Prospects

    Sales Administration, Sales Support & Miscellaneous

  • Business Plans: execute and routinely refine a yearly business plan (Blueprint plan) based on assigned Region’s trends and evolving needs

  • Salesforce.com: maintain and update Salesforce.com records, execute reporting projects as assigned by National Sales Director and/or Regional Sales Manager.

  • Custom Reports: fulfil reporting needs for Sales Executives to leverage with Target Producers for New Line activity (i.e. Partner Rewards Program (PRP) report)

  • Provide coverage for Sales Executives on PTO, OOO or in Training

  • Manage/monitor presale inbox and redirect RFPs to proper Sales Executive

  • Travel in-region &/or to Home Office as needed (<10%)

Qualifications:

  • Sales and/or marketing experience with group insurance background ideal.

  • The ability to develop strong business relationships in a virtual environment

  • Demonstrated ability to develop trust and credibility, easily and quickly.

  • Well organized with the ability to manage a high level of request for proposal activity.

  • A self-motivated, driven individual who is goal oriented.

  • A team player willing and able to engage teammates when appropriate.

  • Exceptional communication skills.

  • Highly ethical and professional individual who will represent The Hartford well in the marketplace

  • 2-3 years of Professional Sales or Industry Experience required

  • Telephonic/Virtual Sales Experience

    Certifications/Licenses

  • Accident, Health & Life Insurance License (within first six months in role)​

This role is eligible for a competitive base salary of $60,000 plus an incentive compensation plan.

T his position will operate on a hybrid model with the opportunity to work in office Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays and remotely Monday & Friday. This enables you to have the flexibility you need while ensuring you are working with your peers and leaders in the office as you develop your skills, collaborate, build relationships and grow your career with The Hartford.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$60,000
