Position Description

Data Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing our data infrastructure to support our mission-driven initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and social impact, leveraging data to support our organizational goals. We uphold these values upon a backbone of humility driven by a culture of safety, vulnerability, and purpose. In this Exempt role you will perform the following essential functions:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, process, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design solutions that meet business needs.
  • Optimize data workflows and performance to ensure timely and efficient data delivery for analytics and reporting purposes.
  • Implement data quality and validation procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering and apply them to improve our data infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of post-degree experience, or comparable combined education and experience, in data engineering or a related role, preferably in a non-profit or government contracting environment.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and database optimization techniques.
  • Experience with data processing programming languages such as Python, Java, or other similar frameworks
  • Familiarity with SQL and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Palantir, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficient with software development tools such as Postman, Visual Studio.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Certifications such as Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a plus.

Salary and Benefits

Expected Salary Range $80,000 - 100,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
