St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, an all-boys Lasallian Catholic high school in Buffalo, NY, announces an opening for the position of Campus Minister & Religion Teacher , to begin work in August 2024. As a campus minister, the successful candidate will partner with our full-time campus minister to inspire, develop and nourish the faith lives of all those in the Lasallian community at SJCI through his/her pastoral presence. As a teacher, the candidate will inspire our students to grow in their faith while engaging them in the classroom through well-planned, interactive and faith-filled religion lessons.
Responsibilities:
Preparing and leading worship and prayer within the entire school community, including the coordination of school liturgies and reconciliation services.
Coordinating student retreats, including the school's popular Kairos retreat experience.
Supporting and leading local and domestic community service programs and activities, while helping students to develop a commitment to social justice and peace.
Developing programs and structures to promote knowledge of the traditions and life of the Catholic Church and the De La Salle Christian Brothers.
Facilitating an atmosphere of Christian hospitality where all feel welcome, valued and loved.
As a teacher, content expertise, a desire and ability to teach students from diverse backgrounds on an individual level, and a love for the Catholic faith are all required.
The Campus Minister/Religion Teacher should be a practicing Catholic, a relationship builder, and an effective communicator. The time requirements for this position are formed by the needs of the program, and include some time outside of regular school hours.
A Bachelor's degree is required. A completed (or in-progress) master's degree in Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, or a related field is preferable.
The Campus Minister reports to the Principal and will work collaboratively with students, faculty, and administrators.
