We are looking for you to join our team as a Manager, Software Engineering 1 based out of Buffalo, NY . As a Manager, Software Engineering 1 at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You'll get to Do:

Join our team of qualified, diverse employees and become part of Amherst Systems in Buffalo, New York; an organization focused on the development and production of state-of-the-art Simulation Systems solutions.

As Manager you will oversee our Engineering Computer Support (ECS) team, which is responsible for all computer selection, inspection, installation, and OS patching across all of our various simulation and training based systems. In addition, you will oversee our software product line block release planning, software configuration management, and be a key player in driving our Digital Transformation to the next level.

Management of the team includes providing technical direction, process guidance, executing performance appraisals, staffing allocations, and career goal development. As manager, you will guide the team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of engineering applications and products, such as laboratory simulation systems, open air training systems, and display systems. You will also interface with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.

This will be an opportunity to lead and coordinate a team through the standard engineering development activities. These activities include the full engineering lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, integration, and software product release to an end customer. Proficient communication skills and employee mentorship skills are valued.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related STEM degree field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or MS degree in STEM and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience as a Software Engineering/Development or IT Team Leader System Administration

  • Experience with Linux/Unix, and Windows Operating Systems Computer Hardware experience, selecting computer hardware solutions, and resolving basic computer problems

  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing software on the Amherst System's product lines

  • Experience with Amherst System's SW development and Configuration Management process Hands on experience with the Amherst System's CEESIM and JTE product lines

  • Experience as a SW Lead on a program

  • Experience with RedHat Linux development using C++ programming language

  • Experience with JIRA for issue tracking

  • Experience with GitHub for configuration management

  • Experience with leading Agile software development

  • Current, active Secret clearance or higher

Salary Range: $115,000 - $172,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
