Job Description

The Sr. Project Manager, OD Competencies and Technology role will design and implement a global competency and career management system supporting employee development and ensuring the relevant competencies needed exist to execute against the strategic objectives and business priorities. The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for the design and implementation of a Competency management framework, Job description standardization, Assessment framework, Governance model.

Job Duties

  • Competency Framework and Standardized Job Description Development : Building on Olympus’ Job Architecture, design and implement globally harmonized, comprehensive, and sustainable competency frameworks and job descriptions covering skills, knowledge, behaviors, and abilities for all organizational roles. This includes designing core competency profiles that can be applied to career groupings/streams Ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.

  • Infrastructure Setup for Sustainable Competency Management and Job Description Framework : Define system requirements and collaborate with IT to integrate a job description and competency management tool into the existing HRIT landscape. Design interfaces linking job descriptions and performance management processes. Establish clear and sustainable competency governance.

  • Competency Assessment : Establish processes and tools for assessing individual and team competencies. Develop assessment methodologies, including self-assessments, peer assessments, and manager assessments, to identify strengths, skill gaps, and development opportunities.

  • Change Management : Lead change management efforts related to competency initiatives, including communication, training, and stakeholder engagement. Drive organizational buy-in and adoption of competency-based approaches.

  • Governance : Develop governance of competency and job description management system for sustainable and harmonized process throughout the organization.

  • System sustainability : Foresee and prepare for evolving HR system functions and business requirements, ensure the system's simplicity and flexibility to effectively accommodate them and uphold sustainable and harmonized processes.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field; master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in competency and talent management, with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Experience leading cross-functional, global teams and managing complex projects, ideally job description and competency management projects.

  • Strong understanding of competency modeling methodologies, assessment tools, and competency management software solutions, including HRIS implementation in a global context.

  • Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.): To attend project meetings scheduled across various time zones, flexibility in working hours is required.

  • A major part of the project meetings will be held during Corporate Global Meeting Hours below, but not limited to this time frame.

  • The hours of 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM Japan time, 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM EST; and 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM CET, on Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Preferred:

  • Certification in competency management or related fields (e.g., Certified Competency Professional).

  • Prior experience leading Job Description standardization and competency management projects, preferably in a medical device or highly regulated industry with a global setting.

  • Strong understanding of HR requirements in the medical device industry.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross functional teams globally and regionally.

  • Strong project management skills – project management certification a plus.

  • Proficiency in data-driven business writing.

  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $100,022.00 - $140,032.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
