Robert Half Network Engineer in Chicago, California

Description

We are looking for a diligent Network Engineer to join our team in client's team. This role involves designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing both local and wide area networks to ensure maximum uptime for users. You will also be involved in server administration, system configurations, and network maintenance and upgrades.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement network systems to ensure maximum uptime for users.

• Serve as the administrator for our servers, managing installation, maintenance, and upgrades.

• Develop and improve network systems to enhance reliability.

• Write specifications for wireless network topology, routers, and switches used in the network.

• Analyze network performance and recommend methods for improvement and correction.

• Deploy and maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, virus protection, no-trust architectures, email gateways, and identity management solutions.

• Monitor and troubleshoot network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades when necessary.

• Maintain both on-premises and cloud infrastructures, implementing disaster recovery procedures as necessary.

• Stay up-to-date with current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to provide the best solutions and protection to company systems.

• Use your knowledge of networking protocols and network diagnostic and analytics tools to resolve networking issues and communicate these to other employees and management.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Cisco Routers, and Cisco Technologies

• Familiarity with Computer Hardware and Configuration Management

• Experience with Design, Eigrp, Firewall Technologies, and Meraki

• Knowledge of Cisco Access Points, Cisco ASA Firewall, and Network Switches

• Experience with security and systems is a plus

• Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills

• Experience with Windows Server Administration and VMware.

Requirements • Proven experience as a Network Engineer or relevant position for a minimum of 2 years

• Solid understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware

• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers

• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols

• Proficient in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Cisco Routers, and Cisco Technologies

• Strong understanding of Computer Hardware and Configuration Management

• Experience in Design and Eigrp

• Working knowledge of Firewall Technologies, Meraki, Cisco Access Points, Cisco ASA Firewall, and Network Switches

• Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems

• Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure

• Good analytical and communication skills
