JPMorgan Chase Control Manager in Chicago, Illinois

In the life of a Control Manager Vice President, you will be provided a great opportunity to expand your knowledge every day, and you'll be building lasting relationships by partnering with cross-functional teams and interacting with sub-lines of business. The collective team focuses on four key areas: Risk Identification & Assessment, Control Design & Evaluation, Issues & Control Deficiencies and Control Governance & Reporting.

As a Control Manager Vice President, you'll be responsible for leading and building out an enhanced control framework which supports a continuous and integrated approach to risk assessment. Additionally, you will ensure the team assists in top-down risk analysis, real time control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis and remediation. You will maintain a strong and consistent control environment through a joint accountability model with each line of business, function and region to mitigate operational risks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols

  • Review and analyze program related data (e.g., KRI/KPI) to support business-related programs and strategies

  • Provide leadership support for the end-to-end execution of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment, including control breaks and resolutions, to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk

  • Engage with control colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators and technology control functions

  • Manage control related activities: CORE, Risk Events (RED), Issues/Action Plans and testing

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

  • 7 or more years of financial service experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, or compliance

  • Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create, and evaluate a Risk & Control Self-Assessment in conjunction with business partners

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

  • Be able to make subjective and informed decisions

  • Problem solving / Analytical skills - solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills; able to synthesize large amounts of data and formulate appropriate conclusions

  • Understanding root cause / identifying control deficiencies

  • Be responsible for developing timely and sustainable solutions

  • Be able to analyze metrics for emerging risks

  • Communication/presentation - excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to influence business leaders in a meaningful and actionable manner

Preferred Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Knowledge of Firm Wide policies and/or Regulatory Programs is a plus
