The UCCS Controller's Office provides and promotes rigorous standards of technical accounting, auditing, and financial reporting to meet the business and management needs of campus customers and external constituents. The UCCS Controller works closely with the CU System Controller and represents the UCCS campus on accounting matters. The UCCS Controller's Office is a service-oriented organization that processes transactions, generates, and monitors reports, provides financial information and decision support, and offers training and documentation for the execution of policies and procedures. It works with and has a higher level of understanding of the PeopleSoft financial and human resource software system, COGNOS reporting system, CONCUR travel & expense reporting system, SciQuest Solutions (CU Marketplace) as well as the State of Colorado's Operations Resource Engine (CORE), this list is not all inclusive.

This position will support the Controller's Office and the Student Financial Services Office. This position will need to understand academic and business operations to implement, monitor, maintain, and enhance the student financial services and financial services functions. This position will organize, coordinate, and schedule projects to manage the utilization of systems, analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate and improve existing systems. Will also develop test plans and strategies as a result of system changes.

Who We Are:

The Student Financial Services (SFS) office is responsible for calculating student tuition and fee amounts, billing students for charges, collecting payments (both on the web and at the cashier window), processing loan disbursement refunds, and applying tuition assistance/3rd party payments to student accounts. The Senior IT Professional will act as the Production Services Coordinator for the SFS office. This position determines and executes the appropriate processes to be used within Campus Solutions (CU-SIS) to accurately calculate student tuition and fees based on approved tuition and fee data, coordinate with UIS the scheduling and running of all production jobs required for the processing of all SFS data, and accurately report IRS 1098-T for data for both students and the IRS for all CU campuses.

Job Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop knowledge of the Student Financial and Financial information systems and functional processes to support the applications.

  • Assist in understanding, re-engineering and streamlining complex processes and procedures to obtain optimum performance of systems.

  • Analyze, communicate, and translate business and federal/state requirements into system configurations and software requirements.

  • Maintain Student Financial and Financial information systems internal controls; help identify and resolve errors associated with transaction processing.

  • Act as liaison between system stakeholders and the technical support teams, including Office of Information Technology, University Information Systems, and vendor staff.

  • Consult with user department personnel to analyze and define current procedures and recommend new or modified system requirements.

  • Support the development, implementation, training and maintenance of systems.

  • Coordinate regression testing for a bundle (patches/fixes/enhancements released by Oracle) testing.

  • Develop training programs and documentation for staff.

  • Develop reporting strategies to meet business needs for operational reporting.

  • Create queries in PeopleSoft (PS) Query SQL tool for testing, reporting, and troubleshooting the various business needs.CU-SIS and Finance data query creation and report writing based on queries to meet reporting needs, both internal and external.

  • Determine appropriate processes to be used to accurately calculate student tuition and fees, including system programming using Oracle Equation Engine tool for complicated tuition and fee calculations.

  • Maintain and create workflows through OnBase.

  • Design and maintain the department web sites.

  • Act as the Production Services Coordinator for SFS. This includes batch processing job setup, scheduling, and manual execution for tuition calculation, billing, refunding, inhouse/external collections, COF, tuition benefits and other processes as needed.

  • Setup and coordinate student IRS form 1098-T generation, printing and mailing for all CU campuses.

  • Analyze and interpret federal and state laws and regulations and other policies and procedures to ensure compliance in the automated processing of credit cards and ACH payments (Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance).

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Salary Range: Generally starting at $65,352 - $84,325 per year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related field.

  • Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in Information Technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent certification.

  • Two or more years of experience in higher education financial operations, including but not limited to accounting, budget, bursar, loan administration, or financial aid.

  • At least two years experience with Oracle's Campus Solutions product (CU-SIS).

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve using a computer continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
