Talascend SL, LLC Machine Repair Technician in Detroit, Michigan

*Talascend is currently seeking a Machine Repair Technician for an opportunity with our client located in Detroit, Michigan *

Shift: 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm; average 8-10 hours/day) Average hours per week is 58 hours (6 days a week, some Sundays)

SUMMARY:

As a Machine Repair Technician, you will be a vital part of our team, responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of our press room machinery. Your expertise will contribute to the overall efficiency and quality of our manufacturing processes. Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support and monitor by visual inspection and listening to the equipment (machines) and provide root-cause analysis for malfunction.  This includes continuously providing active support to the production department. 

Having an in-depth understanding of production cycle times and production parts/hour targets.

Disassemble machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.

Inspect and measure components (parts) to detect wear, misalignment, or other systematic problems.  This includes removing and replacing worn or defective parts.  Repair broken parts if applicable.

Realign and adjust components such as spindles and clutches as required.

Repair/Replace damaged air and hydraulic lines, pipes on machines. This includes either cutting or threading, existing and or new.

Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.

Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).

Robot programming experience at different levels based on training courses, and on-the-job training.  

Support and assist Engineering to modify sketches or computer-generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism. 

Punctual and regular attendance is required.  This includes working any shift assigned.

Keeps work areas clean and orderly, actively participates in continuous improvement activities.

Takes on additional responsibilities and other duties as directed by Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager.

May be required to train fellow tradesmen.

Be familiar with working with Fanuc & Motoman robots.

Assumes other duties as directed by Supervisor. That includes cleaning, organizing, painting sweeping and washing of fixtures.

*REQUIREMENTS: *

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A journeyman's card is preferred for this position. 

Strong communication skills for reading technical documents and presenting information.

Proficiency in mathematical concepts and reasoning abilities.

Ability to apply business judgment and adhere to company policies and procedures.
