Amazon Software Development Manager, DataFabric in Dublin, Ireland

Description

Central Reliability and Response Engineering (CRRE) helps Amazon service teams around the globe with the purpose of improving Amazon’s availability.

Our data team build mechanisms for availability risk management, develop and operate bulk-access/API analytic interfaces and offer expertise in analytics for decision making. CRRE offers insights into Amazon's resilience posture, alongside best-practices education to reduce risk exposure, and also Incident Management support.

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to manage our data team, providing visibility on how mature and reliable Amazon's services are. Your products will support the generation of Reliability Insights and also be used as core inputs into our Incident Management and Resolution work.

Key job responsibilities

Central Reliability and Response Engineering (CRRE) DataFabric is looking for a Software Development Manager who will work ideating, designing and refining data products which will have a direct impact on improving the customer experience across all of Amazon.com and beyond.

Manage your teams priorities - addressing day to day tactical needs without losing momentum on the strategic goals you have set. Grow your reports, ensuring their long term success in Amazon.

Coordinate with your customers on their needs from your data products. Identify new datasets and data products that will move the needle for the partner teams in your Org. Show leadership by shaping the plans of your larger Org, writing roadmaps, 3 Year Plans, and more!

About the team

This team delivers mechanisms to provide resilience insights and to surface data relationships. We power Amazonians with correlated data so they can get insights on their services, and get answers for the Reliability questions they have. Our customers are internal service Owners, Amazon Leaders and Data Scientists.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience in engineering team management

  • Experience in engineering

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

  • Experience in leading the definition and development of data products/services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
