Job Description:
SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Assistant Manager-Theatre Box Office, incumbent is responsible for promoter relations, day of show box office operations, and theatre house management. The Box Office Staff will be willing and able as training permits to assist in all functions of the Customer Service area.
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager-Theatre Box Office the Box Office Staff will be trained to fill in at the ticket counter and will-call window. They will be responsible for collecting and counting ticket stubs at the conclusion of each ticketed event and reporting the results to the Theatre Assistant Manager - Customer Service. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing areas for the promoters use and meeting his / her on-site needs. The Box Office Staff will work with the House Lead to set up and remove usher check in station nightly. At the direction of the House Lead incumbent will survey house for unsafe or unclean conditions prior to opening to the public. The box office staff may be trained to fill in for the House Manager in their absence. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day operations. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain orderly box office physical operation, and take a lead role in box office facility cleanliness
- Function as a relief worker and back up at the ticket sales counter.
- Follow department cash handling procedures
- Assist with monitoring of ticket sales.
- Refer customer service issues to Box Office Lead as necessary.
- Assist House Lead in usher logistics and house management functions as training allows.
- Take lead role in setting up promoter work area, provide furnishings and other equipment to onsite promoter and tour offices peradvance
- Maintain promoter and tour offices cleanliness and
- Generates reports via ticketing software platform;
- Work proactively for the functioning of a successful show in advance, night of show, and post show;
- Manages Ticket Scanning operations at all points of entry.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- At least 18 years of age;
- Experience in working at a live theatre or concert venue helpful.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
- Understands simp e, repetitive, routine tasks, processes or operations;
- Follows simple oral instructions; understands general work processes and has practical knowledge of and use of basic tools including ticket sales software platform;
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Incumbent's contacts are with the general public. Incumbent handles questions, complaints requiring judgment and tact in order to render service, carry out policy and maintain coordination.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Work consists of simple, repetitive, routine tasks, processes or operations. Work is performed under close supervision. Work instructions are specific and complete. Incumbent has no authority to deviate from instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Indiana Drivers License if City vehicle is used.
